It isn't on the website, but I find it amusing that Dole attacked Clinton for being friendly with Russia while Paul Manafort was Dole's convention manager.

Wow, this is really awesome. Hopefully it stays that way, just as the "frozen" White House pages of former administrations. Bill Clinton's one is still available: https://clintonwhitehouse4.archives.gov/

The 1996 election is the earliest in which both major candidates are still living.

Think of it as the true election of the Pokémon Genwunners.

"Neither the United Nations, nor any other international organization or foreign country, will set America's foreign policy agenda. Paring down the U.N. bureaucracy and genuine U.N. reform will be a high priority."

What is this referring to?

Republicans really hated the UN in the 90s. Jesse Helms pushed for a bill that reduce the U.S.' annual payments, but it was all smoothed over by Richard Holbrooke.

I don't think Bob Dole is long for this world, so pretty soon it will be 2000.

Why did the Republicans hate the UN so much at the time?

I'm pretty sure a third party bought the domain and resurrected the original archived page. I read that they did the same for Clinton's 1996 website but they couldn't get the original address, which was cg96.com.

They regarded it as a threat to US Sovereignty. Also the whole situation with international law being used in US courts played into this as well as the concept of a superior law to the Constitution, offended constitutionalists.

Joe Scarborough ran on scaling back US involvement with the UN.

I’m thinking maybe even 2004 because I wouldn’t say Al Gore is looking too good.

Then if Bush 43 or Kerry went, it would be 2012.
