Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers, a controversial black legislator said this recently.  Is this the view of the far left? The Confederate flag is a bigger rag than the US flag.        https://www.3newsnow.com/news/local-news/emotional-response-at-the-unicameral-after-sen-chambers-refers-to-the-american-flag-as-a-rag

Ernie Chambers saying something like this isn't news. It's just what he does.

Should he get an invitation to the 2020 Democratic convention or some other leftwing confab?

Having read up on him he seems to be a rather colourful character who at one point tried to file a lawsuit against God. I say I'd find him entertaining.

I knew it was him.  He ran an Independent candidacy for Nebraska Governor in 1970, as if Democrats in Nebraska didn't have a tough enough row to hoe.

He's a parochial politician who turned into a full bore jackass.

He’s done a lot to combat child sex trafficking IIRC.

He might be a jackass, but he's OUR jackass. And indeed, he has advocated for things that probably would not have a voice otherwise in the legislature. He has pushed for the repeal of Nebraska's death penalty since the 70s. He was successful, but that damned morally bankrupt clown Ricketts spent a truckload of his own money to invalidate the legislature so he could take a condemned inmate's scalp for political points.

I'm not going to defend Chambers for his more... out-there statements, as that is not what is important or worth defending.

In a way, someone like him reminds me of Paul Wellstone.  People are arguing about who to bomb and Paul is beside himself in grief over teachers being laid off and honest-to-God doesn't understand why anyone would eschew that issue in favor of bombing innocents.

Clearly this is a sign of the toxic culture created by national democrats and is an example of finally going beyond years of dog whistling and saying the quiet part.

It's a tragedy that Wellstone died; he was one of the few honest people in the Congress.

Um, no? This is clearly a sign of Ernie Chambers being a perennially deranged gadfly. Nothing more and nothing less. But thanks for playing anyway.

My post was loaded with clichés applied whenever some random low level republican says something something stupid. It was not a serious post.

Gotcha. Though to be fair, there are infinitely more Steve King's in the Republican party than there are Ernie Chambers in the Democratic party. Moreover, the Republican Party currently is led nationwide by someone arguably every bit as extremist and bizarre as Ernie Chambers.

Yeah, just like when I saw the Pennsylvania thread I knew it was Metcalfe.
