17th Congress PPT Thread

Pursuant Article 1, Section 2.b of the Senate Rules and with the proper Senate officer missing the deadline, I hereby open the process to elect a new President Pro-Tempore in my role as President of Congress.

Nominations or Declarations are open for the next 24 hours.

I declare for another term as President Pro-Tempore. I have added most of the missing Senate rules to the wiki and have maintained the noticeboard with regular updates, which is a marked improvement over the previous situation. My hope is that we can improve this session in terms of debate and engagement, as well as continue to improve in areas of administrative efficiency.

I also have a good relationship with the Vice President as well as a good idea of what needs to happen to set him and Congress as a whole up for success in ensuring that bills make it through Congress and to the President in a timely fashion.

As I have said before, ineffective administration of congress silences everybody and ensures that nothing gets done, and regardless of your party the end result is stagnation and the inability to move forward, to pass a budget, to reform our systems and to secure our national interests, all of which suffer if one or both branches of Congress are dysfunctional.

If elected as PPT I will select one of the new/newer Laborite Senators as Deputy PPT to ensure balanced and fair administration of the Senate and to make sure that we have a chain of succession and that things are constantly moving forward. Though the hardest part might actually be choosing among them.

While I prefer not to be the majority vote for myself, either 3rd or 4th in this case, I know as soon as Lumine is on with 4 votes being cast, he is going to close this and I have to work today so waiting would likely mean missing the vote.
