Chechnia, Somalia, Saudi-Arabia and Iran are the worst.

SPARTACUS Gay Travel Index 2019

Thanks to improvements in law for trans- and intersexuals as well as initiatives against hate crimes, Portugal has succeeded  in moving from 27th rank to 1st rank for the first time in the SPARTACUS Gay Travel Index. It shares 1st rank with Sweden and Canada.

The annually updated SPARTACUS Gay Travel Index informs travellers about the situation of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders (LGBT) in 197 countries and regions.

Why does France lose a point for "Locals hostile", whereas Taiwan, where gay marriage got rejected by a 2-1 margin, doesn't?

Maybe because there are a lot of Muslim immigrants who physically attack gays in France, but the Taiwanese only do so at the polls ?

But I'm not sure. Their scores are not explained.

Of course Uruguay is the first Latin American country to crack the top 20.

Australia should be given 2 points on equal age of consent (this is unfair, as 2 states have a different overall age of consent that applies to both heterosexual couples and homosexual couples, therefore still being completely equal in all states and territories)

it should also be given 2 on adoption laws, which are completely uniform and give same sex couples the exact same right to adoption as opposite sex couples

Austria jokes aside, nice to see their stereotypical image shed with developments such as this.

Besides asinine jokes, Uruguay has a long history of secularism and is extremely irreligious compared to other Latin American countries.

The UK losing a point for 'religious influence' is a little strange.
