I don't think it's so much the state but the competition. Forrester was every bit as bad as Corzine. If Corzine ran against Taft and the election were in OH, I bet Corzine wins.

I'm afraid he'd win the whole northeast, except maybe New Hampshire, as well as the west coast.  Those states would vote for a rhinoceros if it was running on the democratic line.

All this coming from someone who lives in a northeastern state with not only a Republican governor, but the most hightly rated Republican governor approvalwise in the nation. Your state also borders 2 others with Republican governors(that I can think of).
