I've read that people were far less interested in politics then than they've been since 9/11.

Gore was still the inventor of the internet running away from a ManBearPig, and Bush was still a buck-toothed fool, even in 2000.

The Spears v. Aguilera, and the NSYNC v. BSB battles, along with Korn and Limp Bizkit and Eminem v. Jay-Z, were the big rivals in 2000, especially on TRL and in pop culture. Bush v. Gore was fairly big, too.

The Yankees v. Red Sox rivalry wasn't as big back then, as even the Cards v. Cubs rivalry was bigger (mainly because of Sosa v. McGwire).

The St. Louis Blues' biggest rival at this time was NOT Chicago Blackhawks, but the Detroit Red Wings.

The former St. Louis Rams' biggest rivals was still the San Francisco 49ers, as Seattle hadn't returned to the NFC until 2002 and then became the team's biggest rival during the remainder of their time in STL.

As for Arsenal, Manchester United was easily their biggest rival at that time.

Lakers vs Blazers, it was the real NBA finals that year and I am happy I was not old enough to understand what was happening during that series or I would have burst out in tears after game 7(Blazers had a 15 point lead with less than 10 minutes left in that game and blew it)

Cubs/Cards was, is and always will be bigger and better, regardless of what Sportscenter constantly tells us.
