He realized he'd still lose Ohio if he got the nomination.

So, now we have people who have only held statewide office in deep blue states. Trump's reelection chances just went up.

It didn't really hurt Obama, I'm not all that concerned honestly.

Also, now I gotta change my name.

This is the first one that's actually surprised me.

I was more surprised about O'Malley, since he spent something like two years doing a bunch of early primary state visits, and didn't hold any current political office to fall back on, so what else was he going to do, if not follow through on another presidential run?  Brown only started testing the waters for 2020 about two months ago, so he's not nearly as invested.

With his whole tour and the relatively positive reception he got, this does surprise me. Maybe Biden really is running and Sherrod wants to clear the way? Or he realized his voters are likely split between Bernie and Klobuchar and his lane is small as is?

Yeah, this one is pretty surprising.

It's probably for the better though; that Senate seat would be gone for a while.

Well now I’m undecided for the primary unless Gillibrand’s campaign magically comes back from the dead.

Yep. I thought he'd have one of the best chances at beating Trump.

I mean, it's not as if his starting numbers were good to begin with.

How does Brown not running clear the way for someone like Biden? Brown's base is far closer to Sanders than Biden.

They have the same "rust belt electability" appeal.

Biden's rust belt appeal (and his appeal in general) is far overstated. He certainly had that Rust Belt electability appeal at some point though post-2016, Biden more often than not has been uber tone deaf.

This was probably the realistic decision. I do hope he will endorse Sanders and call on progressive and labour elements in the Democratic Party to rally behind Bernie as the only realistic option.
