What is the makeup of these two counties? Are they similar to other suburban Kansas City counties such as Johnson County and Wyondotte County in Kansas? Whiter? More educated? And are they trending D or not?

Since no one else is answering, here's my general impression of the five main metro counties.  Anyone who wants to can feel free to contradict me.

JACKSON MO.  About 40% urban core, 25% WWC inner suburban, 30% outer suburban, 5% rural.
WYANDOTTE KS.  About 60% urban core, 25% WWC inner suburban, 15% rural.
JOHNSON KS.  About 50% outer suburban, 20% upscale inner suburban, 10% WWC inner suburban, 20% rural.
CLAY MO.  About 20% urban core, 40% WWC inner suburban, 20% outer suburban, 20% rural.
PLATTE MO.  About 20% WWC inner suburban, 20% upscale inner suburban, 30% outer suburban, 30% rural.

And here are some demographics and vote totals from Wikipedia.
JACKSON MO.  (63% White, 23% Black)  Romney 39%, Trump 38%.
WYANDOTTE KS.  (58% White, 28% Black)  Romney 30%, Trump 32%.
JOHNSON KS.  (86% White)  Romney 58%, Trump 47%.
CLAY MO.  (87% White)  Romney 53%, Trump 52%.
PLATTE MO. (91% White)  Romney 56%, Trump 52%.

(NATIONAL.  Romney 47%, Trump 46%)

So, to summarize, Johnson County has moved strongly to the left, Platte County has moved much less strongly to the left, and Wyandotte County has moved slightly to the right.  Jackson and Clay Counties barely moved.
