My Friends and fellow Lincolnites.

Today, I have announced that I shall stand as a candidate for the Lincoln Council.

Seven years prior to this date, I was witness to the beginning of a new age in Atlasian History. Filled with a sense of hope and newfound pride in our political future, we created the Labor Party as a organization for progressive change and a voice for the oppressed. We sought to achieve an end to the status quo and a revitalization of Atlasian politics. The memory of building this political party and my service in the Northeast Assembly has inspired me to create the Labor Left as a coalition for those who remain true to this dream.

Now, we stand at a new threshold. The final passage of the Philadelphia Plan has instituted a new form of government in Lincoln. Novel it may be, the parliamentary system has the potential to unleash a degree of democratic representation we have not yet experienced in our region. With the proper tools in place, Lincoln can lead the charge in fulfilling the needs of its population and thereby set an example to be followed beyond our borders.

I believe that as a active member of the regional council, I can work to further this righteous objective. I seek, as Labor had at its founding, to act as a megaphone for the working classes and ensure that our government works for all of us. From healthcare and transportation to transparency and voting rights, we CAN build a brighter future.

I welcome you all to join me.
Thank you.

Statement on Recent Environmental Legislation:

Good Morning, Lincoln.

Today I would like to briefly discuss my objections to a policy proposal put forth in the Lincoln Council. As both a proponent of economic equity as well as a citizen concerned with the dire need for strict environmental regulation, I have high expectations when we approach the topic of tackling such issues through ambitious regional policy. I commend our government in its willingness to begin deliberations on these matters - however I cannot state in earnest that the carbon legislation put forth by Speaker lfromnj and MP thr33 is for the good of all Atlasians.

The "Lincoln Carbon Act" is in essence is a skewed solution that unfairly shifts the burden for healing our atmosphere onto the working class when the greatest share of energy usage is consumed by corporate enterprise. This act would needlessly commodify carbon, thus granting a blank check to high-profit corporations to purchase carbon credits in a manufactured marketplace to the detriment of smaller businesses and lower income families. If a corporate entity stands to profit ten dollars for every five dollars taxed through a carbon initiative, what do they stand to lose in continuing business as usual?

I support a fair means to regulate carbon emissions as part of a greater array of climate legislation: one that ensures that the concerns of market capitalism are treated as a symptom of the climate crisis, not a solution. If elected to the fifth seat on the council, should the bill once more come to a vote in its current state, I shall oppose it.

Thank you.

Election Eve Statement:

As we approach this dawning by-election I would like to sincerely thank all of you who have taken the time to endorse my campaign and lend your support. Your kind words have been encouraging and it means a great deal to see that you share my concerns for our future.

I stand today as a candidate for regional service not in the pursuit of political prestige, nor the elevation of one political party over another. My candidacy, and this campaign, is about serving the interests of Lincolnites and the Atlasian working class first and foremost. From laborers to farmers, white-collar to blue-collar, teachers to students, firefighters to paramedics - it is high time we begin focusing on developing a democratic society that benefit YOU, not corporate interests or insiders. If we stand with one voice and demand a stronger healthcare system, demand a higher wage for struggling families, and demand a clean environment for our children to inherit, then, my friends, we can accomplish anything.

Together let us work toward the Lincoln I know we can be.

With Regards and Optimism,
Pyro

Campaign Victory Statement:

Friends, Supporters, and fellow Lincolnites. Thank you.

Tonight it is my pleasure to speak to you as your next Regional Councillor. This victory, as with our campaign, is as much yours as it is mine, and before proceeding any further I would like to make my gratitude quite clear. To all of you who have taken part in this democratic process, thank you. The system cannot work without your help.

It has been encouraging to witness such high turnout for a special election and I hope that this trend continues as a sign of things to come. I believe that only with an engaged population can we hope to keep Atlasia a fun and worthwhile experience for everyone involved.

As I have said from the start, I strive to lend my voice in the Lincoln Council to the concerns of working people. I will stand true to the values laid forth in the Labor Left platform and plan to do my part in upholding and expanding on our democratic traditions in the days and weeks ahead.

Solidarity Forever,
Councillor-elect PyroTheFox
