New national poll from the nation's sole reputable poller

There are no reputable pollers in this country

Labour: 39%
Conservative: 35%
Liberal Democrats: 10%
Scottish National Party: 3%
others: 12%

Wow! A lead of 4 points against the most useless government in history! The election is already won!

It is perfectly legitimate to question why the Opposition is not leading a government that is consistently and frequently proving they are incompetent and untrustworthy by more than a few points, but by all means, stick your fingers in your ears and go 'lalalalala corbyn is infallible'.

And yes, Labour would have a solid lead with a non-senile leader. If Corbyn was some great popular unifying leader, there's no way he'd be basically tied at best with the worst government in living history.

Macron will veto any delay.

Callaghan fought the General Election in 1979 after all.

Yeah, but the difference there is that, even with the Winter of Discontent, there wasn't an internal party revolt against Callaghan, whereas there currently is within the Conservative Party against May. He had the support of his party to fight the election. Could the same be said for May today?

On the other hand, Callaghan faced far more formidable opposition in that election than May could/will

Independent Group is now called Change UK. I suppose the party's name is abbreviated to CUK.

That's a really crappy name, but otherwise good news. I'll more than likely be signing up.

I'm not sure it's fair to say Labour have much of a problem with electing women leaders. It's just whenever women have stood for the leader, they've tended to be a bit crap (see Cooper; Kendall)

Abbott not winning the mayoral selection is again just a symptom of Abbott being Abbott rather than a gender problem.

This is a troll account.

DeltaPoll is a legitimate (as far as British pollsters go) poll.

DeltaPoll literally haven't even been around long enough to prove if they are legitimate or not. I'm aware clinging to a narrative without it being backed up by any actual evidence is a Corbynite hobby, but if you seriously think a near-margin of error lead in a dodgy poll means an inevitable socialist landslide, then you'll be disappointed.

Oh wait. Forgot who I was talking to. Never mind, Corbyn is infallible and Labour will win all 650 seats because everyone loves socialism.

when you're definitely not mad at all

Yeah, well, when my country is about to get completely f!cked and your messiah has done nothing to oppose it it's not inconceivable I'd be a bit mad.

Only a matter of months until PM Corbyn then, right?

Saying something enough times doesn't make it reality

Curious what everyone thinks what’s going to come of Brexit mess in coming weeks... May’s Deal Passes, NO Deal, General election or Second Referendum?

Always assume the worst, so no deal.

It seems to me, despite it being a horrific deal, that MP’s are giving in to May and laying down. They all said she would box them into a my deal or the highway situation and now here they are letting her do just that!

Errrrrr... what precisely leads you to this conclusion?

There's probably an irony in the date being 31 October, I just can't quite put my finger on what that irony is

As happy as I am they exist, and as willing as I am to give them my full support, they have chosen a really, REALLY, crappy name.

Out of interest, why do you prefer them to the Lib Dems?

Honestly? Because the coalition is still very much in my mind. Their spinelessness is letting the Tories do pretty much everything they wanted to do (including ramping tuition fees meaning I've got about £20,000 more debt than I otherwise would have) is frankly unforgivable. I don't despise them as much as I did in the 2010-2015 period, indeed back in 2017-18 when I had no choice I voted for them, albeit reluctantly. It's just now there's a better option, and I'd rather vote for the centrist anti-Brexiteer (honestly more important to me at this point than being pro-EU lmao) party which doesn't have that kind of history.

Is it petty of me to still hold the coalition against them? Probably. But sometimes politics is petty.

sigh

Hopefully definitively proving they don't give a sh!t about any issues apart from their pet one will finally put the long overdue nail in the SNP coffin, but unfortunately I don't think we'll have such a luxury.

Nigel Farage was attacked with a milkshake today.

Would this not just drive up the vote for BREXIT party ?

If seeing Farage getting attacked with a milshake is enough to annoy someone, chances are they were already voting for the Brexit party anyway

Former Deputy Prime Minister Michael Heseltine has had the Tory whip in the House of Lords suspended for announcing that he plans to vote Lib Dem on Thursday.

Heseltine is anti-Brexit, the LibDems are anti-Brexit, while nobody really knows what the Tories are about anymore.

So, instead of suspending him, they should just outright admit that it's their own fault that Heseltine is voting LibDem.

That's not really how it works. A member of a party explicitly stating they are supporting a rival party is grounds for suspension in most British parties no matter what. Hesseltine was no doubt well aware of this when he made his statement and fully expecting of the consequences.

That's she's being petty enough to cling on until she surpasses Gordon Brown removes any sympathy I might have for her and that whoever replaces her will probably be much worse removes any excitement I might have.

At least she's going though. If the Leader of the Opposition could follow suit we'd be a good chunk of the way to British politics becoming halfway not-abysmal again.

This tweet is downright sickening. How this person gets to run a presidential campaign is a question that deserves to be accounted for.

That someone took 'Corbyn is going to be the next PM' from last night's results is utterly hilarious. The Labour membership is so deluded, I honestly think the party suffering a 1931-style result wouldn't snap them out of it at this point.

EDIT: Well the tweeter isn't technically Labour, but the point stands

I think people are really overthinking this. Yes, there are a lot of complex political factors at play, but it boils down to the fact Jeremy Corbyn has the political skills and intelligence of a dustbin. All he (or rather Seamus Milne etc.) sees is the great EU Capitalist Conspiracy getting in the way of his socialist utopia. There is no master plan for creating a winning coalition for Labour, just a plan to meekly give in to Brexit because it'll get rid of those pesky Brussels capitalists. Stop giving him any more credit than that.
