LBJ was far, far better on every issue that wasn't Vietnam.

LBJ literally would've been the record best President, pole-vaulted past FDR/Washington/Lincoln if he hadn't done Vietnam so badly.

Bush Jr did pretty much nothing right, not even compared to Trump.

Without Vietnam, LBJ would probably have been seen as one of the best five presidents ever.

Both had horrible foreign policies, but at least LBJ didn't screw the country over domestically. So LBJ.

LBJ had redeeming qualities. Not many, but some is better than none.

Without Vietnam, LBJ would probably have been seen as one of the best five presidents ever.

In a 1996 survey, 15 of 32 historians polled ranked LBJ as a "near great" president.  That's even after factoring in Vietnam.  Since the only three presidents consistently ranked as "great" are Lincoln, Washington, and FDR, it's very possible many of these 15 would have ranked him as fifth or not far below it if they had been numerically ranking the presidents.

I don't see how anyone can seriously argue that W was a better president than LBJ.
