The big problem with ranking these presidents is the only two who did anything substantial in office (Polk and Jackson) did objectively awful things. The rest did little but twiddle their thumbs or die prematurely. The only two I feel somewhat positively about are Taylor and Van Buren, and even they were, um, problematic.
