This is probably the worst era of Presidents by far

My ranking would be

1. James Polk
2. Andrew Jackson
3. Zachary Taylor
4. Martin Van Buren(The 1848 version would have been way way better than the one we had as President)
5. William Henry Harrison
6. Milliard Fillmore
7. John Tyler
8. Franklin Pierce
9. James Buchanan

This list looks about right, though I would switch Fillmore and Tyler. Fillmore supported the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, Tyler at least had some success on foreign policy.

Fillmore's foreign policy was successful.  He opened up trade with Japan and managed to keep peace with European powers in spite of agitators such as those who attempted to annex Cuba.
