BETO raises $6.1 Million in first 24 hours, with donors from all 50 states-  which tops every other candidate (Bernie is 2nd with $5.9 Million, Kamala is 3rd with $1.5 Million).  This will help his narrative that his strength is his ability to generate the excitement needed to beat Trump.  So why did his campaign wait to release these numbers...

Did they want to get more mileage out of the news by waiting until Monday to release?
Or did it just take time to get the financial information together, etc?

Not sure how many individual donors were responsible for the $6.1 Million.  But here is a map of where the donors for his Senate election were located (when he raised a record $80 Million, almost double any other Senate candidate in the country).
Senate Donor Map (pretty wide spread for a Senate candidate):

That’s s great amount, and probably propels him to third above Harris. I have no clue why he didn’t release this when he was taking a lot of hits from all directions.

I actually think it's quite clever of him to do this.  He's made this the first major news story of the week!

My guess is he wanted this news to start the Monday news cycle... rather than have less impact on a weekend.

Well didn’t folks say Beto ran his campaign without worrying about what consultants thought or what the media said. He’s clearly going to do the same running for POTUS.

Something good or reassuring that I heard this weekend (from one of Obama's campaign manager's... can't remember which one) was that Obama didn't have a lot of policy specifics when he first announced- and he subsequently fill in the specifics throughout the campaign.  This was in response to a question/ discussion about Beto not giving too many specifics yet.  And considering Beto is getting a lot of the Obama advisors- it's probably a safe bet he will follow a similar play book in this regard.

One non-policy aspect that I think will be a strength of Beto's (something that Trump's Republicans primary opponents were not very good at)- is based on his Senate campaign, Beto is pretty good at running a campaign that puts blinders on when is comes to his opponent. He is driven by meeting every person he possibly can, or to reach as many voters as possible in some aspect, knowing he will likely win them over.

I guess another way to look at Beto- because his strength is personal likeability X-Factor ... he doesn't feel the need to focus on making people dislike his opponent/ because he knows that if he focuses on his message (even if platitudes)... he will be more likeable than his opponent.  This could prove to be a good foil to Trump's campaign style (which was able to constantly pull Hillary off message).  Beto's high Likeability/ X-factor also makes him much less susceptible to being vilified by Trump (the way he was able to vilify Hillary).  Trump will try- but Beto will win them over (at least regarding the voters that are actually up for grabs).

Good news. I'd be happy with Beto as the nominee. I can't see him losing to Trump.

Beto's numbers are a great example how twitter isn't real life. People were blasting his rollout on twitter and it seems it was just fine.

Well, if it's not, it's not a huge surprise. As Obama's 2008 success proved, there's nothing Americans love more than empty platitudes.

Candidates that Bernie supporters vehemently dislike outperforms expectations and they follow up with unsubstantiated conspiracy theories born out of bitterness and spite.

Also, it isn't 2008 anymore, and people, both on the Left and Right, are much angrier and more cynical

Bernie Bros thinking comparing Beto to Obama is an insult in a primary election where Obama has 90% favorability and most Democrats ID as Obama Democrats is unbelievably stupid.

Again, it is a classic case of living in a bubble.

If Bernie supporters are smart, they wouldn't even bring up Obama. Also drop the "Harris is a cop" narrative, that is going to backfire in the primaries.
