El Paso is surprisingly nice, it's just far away from anywhere else you might want to go.

Burlington is too small for me and I probably wouldn't like Texas climate, so South Bend.

South Bend is the closest to a major metro area, so I guess there.

El Paso easily, with South Bend being second and Burlington being a distant third.

This is also the same ranking according to the economically anxious crowd.

Yes, Trump supporters would love living in one of the most progressive areas in the entire country just because it's super white Roll Eyes

El Paso is directly across from Ciudad Juarez, which I think is one of the more dangerous Mexican cities?

So because of that, South Bend. Mid-sized cities are also generally better.

I have always heard bad things about South Bend, but I'm usually quite skeptical of people who talk about college towns like there's nothing redeemable about them.  Ames, IA and Champaign, IL - two college towns that CONSISTENTLY rank super highly on those lists - always get talked about very badly in Iowa City; it's not exactly surprising, given how much Iowa fans hate both.

I guess South Bend to stay in the Midwest, but none of the three seem that great.  El Paso seems kinda boring, and Burlington seems like it'd be a bit weird.

Sunbelt, even if it is TX, El Paso, of course. That's where migration is moving to

I don't want to live in El Paso because I don't know any Spanish which would greatly ruin quality of life in this area.

However El Paso is one of the safest cities country and it used to be very high in the 2000's almost reaching levels only found in rich orange county cities. It has risen up a bit since then but overall it still is one of the safer cities in the US. Infact South Bend has a 5 times higher murder rate than El Paso Texas.

Huh, very high contrast between the 2 cities even though they are right across the border. Wouldn't have expected that.

Either way, I think I'd still choose South Bend because it's on the population sweet spot, but El Paso sounds a lot better now.
