The conclusion remains that the heifer was not exonerated.

But there was not even enough evidence to charge.

No, that wasn't what was stated. Pretty much that only thing protecting Trump is that a sitting President cannot be indicted. Mueller said he could be charged post presidency.

Actually, Mueller said that this was not a factor.

He directly said it was "The" factor.

Mueller could have named Trump an unindicted co-conspirator if that were the case.  Guess what.  He didn't.

Mueller seeming to have never heard of Fusion GPS is just sad.

And, frankly, I don't understand it.  Mueller was exceptionally capable doing his previous tenure.

No he couldn’t because he didn’t indict anyone in Trump’s circle for obstruction (largely because Trump’s people refused to carry out Trump’s orders to obstruct the investigation).

Not as sad as your Michael Tracey arch of having an unhealthy hatred for Clinton which devolved into an unhealthy hatred for Russiagate which lead to you spewing Trumper talking points

I'm sorry, but if you are sincerely positing that this hearing was somehow a political victory for Trump, I can only assume one of two things:

1. You are deaf.
2. Your reactions to the hearing were pre-written, and you're merely copy-pasting the spin now.

Seriously.  Mueller literally said that Trump could be charged after he leaves office, which is consistent with the DoJ not pressing charges against incumbent presidents.  Just how is that a victory?

I really wouldn't say this is a win for anyone. No one's mind was likely changed by what happened today and there was no new information.

Serious question, since you're largely non-partisan and don't really identify with either party. Is this the most embarrassing song and dance you've seen an American political party undergo during your lifetime in order to cater to the needs of spinning a narrative about their leader? How is the Republican handling of this scandal going in comparison to how Democrats had to defend Clinton during his scandals, for example?

The Republicans at present are showing more braindead partisanship than anything I can remember.

I would have supported removing Clinton (was a child at the time so didn't really have an opinion back then). There is at least a legitimate argument to be made that Clinton lied about a personal matter that had nothing to do with his job so it wasn't right to remove him, some Republicans even agreed with that. Especially since he decisively won reelection instead of losing the PV by several million votes.

Also, the obstruction charges against Clinton were a stretch and I would take the opposite view of a lot of people and say that obstruction is worse than perjury. Perjury is momentarily lying under oath, obstruction is abusing the powers of your office for personal gain.

The only precedent for a lot of Trump's behavior are Nixon's efforts to cover up Watergate, so the Clinton comparison isn't really the best one, anyway.

There's nothing Trumper about despising the starting of a new cold war to distract from how sh**tty he Democratic party is.

Accusing Russiagate of “starting a new Cold War” or that is was just about distracting from Hillary is literally the Trumpest talking point you can spew. So congrats you proved my point

My take on it is that the hearing was a disaster for which ever party you are registered with

Russia's actions in Ukraine started another Cold War. Anyone acting like the increased tensions started with Russiagate hasn't been paying attention to what's going on in the world for the past five years.

He didn't say it was not a factor. He said it prevents him from even considering whether or not he could charge the President in the first place.

Exactly right.  In fact, it could be argued we’ve already lost this new Cold War now that the GOP seem perfectly willing and desiring of Russia to meddle in our elections.

With Trump, we are an unofficial extension of the Kremlin.

Putin's Russia is living on borrowed time given how dependent they are on oil and whenever he dies the whole country is going to descend into chaos especially given how much of the economy he personally owns.

China and India are the countries with a chance to potentially unseat the US as hegemon down the line.
