Whats with the idea that Trump is suddenly going to become uber-popular now that the Muller Report may not yield an indictment? His approval has been extremely static for most of his presidency, people are baked in at this point to hate the guy or love the guy. The idea that Trump will become popular is ridiculous.

Maybe not Ronald Reagan or Bill Clinton popular. I can see him going from being between considerable and mildly unpopular to being simply controversial the way Obama was between 2010 and 2015. With those kind of numbers, he probably wins in a way that is a mix of 2004 and 2012. He probably nearly wins the popular vote but probably loses Michigan and Pennsylvania but wins New Hampshire and Wisconsin. That will most likely be because of some blue-collar people “coming home” but is offset by modesty  well to do and educated coming home, too. Also, a third party spoiler might not be there. So in total, I see him basically doing slightly worse than Bush in 2004 but it will pretty much seal it when he wins Florida and Arizona  by 3 and  Iowa, Georgia and Ohio by 6. He might win Texas by 10 and only lose Colorado and Virginia by 2 or 3. It will be more like an anti1976, really. He probably gets to 55 senators and maybe like 210 in the house.

This is all assuming that the report is as benign as it currently seems and We never figure out why everybody keeps on living off of loans and there’s  virtually no inflation.

Why does it seem like that? We litterally have no information one way or another. The fact that Trump isnt getting indicted(which we knew for months) doesnt change that.

So no ones going to read this but:

Fact of the matter is, we wont be getting Barr's report tonight. Probably not tomorrow either. Go do something else and check back on Sunday.

What if the real Mueller report was the faith in democracy we lost along the way?

I wrote a long, depressed diatribe about this in the "Indictment-o-rama" thread, so if you care what I think go read that there. The Cliffnotes version of it is that I now think that Trump firing Mueller and creating a constitutional crisis for the country would have been a better result and that I was wise to temper my expectations of the report. That still didn't help that much though. I'm feeling really down right now. This may not 100% guarantee Trump's re-election but it undeniably helps him. The guy is practically invincible.

Since you apparently know what's in the report already, how about sharing it with the rest of us?

The lack of any new indictments plus my already pessimistic expectations are enough to make me think that the report will vindicate Trump.

We already know more than enough to impeach Trump. He has violated his Oath of Office and the Emoluments Clause. He actively solicited and recieved help from the Russian government to win election. And he, his family, business and campaign, sought a quid pro quo of Trump Tower Moscow for sanctions relief. These aren't things we were waiting on the Mueller report to prove, they're matters of public record. But as Pelosi has acknowledged, the GOP isn't going to do their damned job and impeach Trump while they have any alternative.

What I'm hoping is that the Mueller report will be damning enough to make continuing to enable Trump prohibitively damaging to the GOP. This has never been super-likely, but given what we already know, hoping that Mueller's investigation would produce such info is reasonable. There was never going to be an indictment of Trump from Mueller. Justice Dept procedure was very clear on that, and a by the book guy like Mueller was unlikely to violate precedent like that. I was expecting more indictments of criminals in Trump's circle, but as far as I know, there are still sealed indictments and Muller has demonstrated a pattern of handing off prosecutions not directly related to his directive.

For now, I'll wait and see. But let's be clear - the public evidence of Trump's malfeasance is already damning. There is no vindication, at most, he will not be driven from office. (The cult may claim that as a vindication, but they're deplorable to begin with.)

Why do you guys WANT it to be true that trump colluded with russia? It is bizarre to me.

Millions of Americans are livid that their President WASN’T colluding with a foreign power

Think about that for a second. Imagine half of the country actively hoping that FDR or Truman was caught colluding with the Japanese during WW2.

It’s difficult to comprehend

Yeah, that’s pretty much what I expected out of this situation over which #NeverTrump folks whipped themselves into hysteria and conspiracy theories. Entire media outlets and a large swath of the Democratic Party and electorate were willing to fan the flames of Russophobia and try to launch another Cold War on the basis of rumors that they wanted to be true.

Yes, certain high level figures in Trump’s circle are in serious legal trouble, but if any campaign was as thoroughly investigated as Trump’s, I wouldn’t be surprised to see similar levels of illegal activity. That doesn’t excuse it, but rather should highlight how corrupt the American political system really is.

Now, can CNN and MSNBC try focusing on real journalism again and can the Democratic Party try running on real issues in 2020? I’m glad this nonsense is finally over.

I'd be more worried by the fact that so-called patriots (Rinos) turn out in records numbers to defend a man suspected of being a traitor... sad!

Wouldn't it be better if nobody had cause to believe that the President was in collusion with Russian  political figures, intelligence agents, or Russian mobsters?

This is not World War 2.

*Wonders how FDR is a decent man*
*Looks at party label*
*Ah, now it makes sense*

FDR is overrated and his policies were really watered down socialism. Had we chosen Hoover again, Landon, Willkie, or Dewey, today, our nation would be a much better place

Even assuming that this does clear Trump of all wrongdoing, I think this is a plus for him as much as Clinton being cleared of any wrongdoing was for her in 2016. At best for Trump, it's something that isn't brought up much in 2020.

Rachel Maddow was openly crying tonight on her show that Trump is likely not going to be implicated in the Mueller probe.

That is sick partisanship.

I was expecting a RickRoll. I read a few weeks ago that Mueller and Barr agreed to indict the Orange Clown's kids on financial charges. Mueller wanted to charge Trump with Obstruction, but Barr didn't think indicting a sitting president would be viable.
