Quote

Selene Saavedra Roman was nervous about going to work.

She’s been a “dreamer” since 2012, when the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program first started. Born in Peru, she’s lived in the United States for 25 years, but her immigration status has always been in the back of her mind.

Which is why, when she got a job as a flight attendant, she decided to work for a regional company, Mesa Airlines, that wouldn’t ask her to travel around the world. And it’s why she told the company she was a DACA recipient and didn’t want to fly internationally.

Yet, in February, Mesa scheduled her to fly to Mexico anyway, Saavedra Roman’s attorney said. And when she told them her concerns, the company wrongly assured her that she wouldn’t have trouble reentering the United States.

And guess what....

Came to the US from Peru when she was 3.  Got into the DACA program in 2012.  Graduated from Texas A&M in 2014.  Married a US citizen in 2017.  Got kidnapped by ICE in 2019.

Horrible, but Trump supporters aren't going to have any sympathy for her, for the most part.

Holding her in an ICE detention center surely brought back grampa's job at the mill, right?

Ugh. I hope she's able to recover from that trauma and able to get back in with her life without too much fear.

ICE is superfluous garbage. Sad stuff.

Democrats only sympathize with her because she is attractive.

Why she trusted Mesa to provide reliable immigration advice is beyond me.

Not true as I find myself sympathizing with you quite often.

Unfortunately no one will care because of the economy and no collusion!

This sucks. Six weeks is inexcusable.

We should fix the immigration system so the relatively innocent are processed quickly.

Granting at least permanent residency, if not citizenship, for the DACA cases should begin on a case-by-case basis.  That, I would agree with.  I'm all for ending the limbo of these folks, if only so that things like this not happen again.
