One of these days, Democrats will win back the trifecta, probably by January 2025 if Trump is re-elected.  And while we can certainly shoot for single-payer or Medicare-for-All, we will likely have to end up with a compromise which, while it is universal health care, would not be anything like the British National Health Service.

If we end up ultimately with a German-style universal health care system, would you be satisfied with it?  Would you consider this to be mission accomplished?

No.
It's of course waaaaaay better than the U.S. health care system, but ours is basically a three-class system.
The rich and the state officials enjoy a high level of health care, main street tax payers are provided with not few benefits, but they have to pay for many things out of their own pockets - things that poor people cannot afford.  Red and angry

Don't get me wrong. If I need medical treatment, I will never want to live in the US (unless I am a millionaire), but the German health care system has many flaws and faults. (Especially when it comes to dental services.)

Yes, absolutely. It's basically an ideal healthcare system imo (the one in France is similar)

Compared to our current system, yes. But there are better systems of universal healthcare that can be used, like the one in Denmark or the UK.

It also made health insurance more expensive

Health insurance should be a concern of the insurance industry

Thousands of people would be dead without the ACA protections including children.
