Ohh I see. Mobile would make it a little trickier. If it does get to be too annoying, you can always just use the old text editor. However you won't see what drafts you have saved right under the editor anymore nor the social media bbcode buttons.
How do I access it?

Just go to

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?action=profile;sa=atlasmod

and uncheck "Use advanced post editor"

I’ll gladly stake my flag on defending the recommend feature, please keep it. This is the only forum I frequent that didn’t have a post liking option.

It's really a pointless feature and doesn't fit with Atlas.

I may be okay with the updates if they don’t get rid of “Old Atlas”, like how there is still an “Old Reddit”.

Honestly, there is going to come a time where "old atlas" style really does have to go. This forum has to upgrade to the newest version at least by sometime in 2020, and Dave has already expressed a desire to do that. The newest version they are releasing sometime later this year is considerably different in design. I told Dave I'd like to create a theme to tries to stick to some of Atlas's quirks but it's impossible to avoid a big change. This forum software is really old as it is lol.

And I say this as someone who has poured an enormous amount of time and effort into upgrading this forum in bits and pieces with literally >10,000 lines of custom code. A lot of it will become redundant when the forum is upgraded, and much of it will need a lot of refactoring.

Wait, if we’re going to make the fantasylanders show up in a different color on the online list, is there any chance this can be done with Moderators so we could more easily see which mods were online?

All of these are good ideas, especially the recommend feature.

I'm not huge on the 5 page rule since that would delete so many threads now

I did ask Dave, I don't think he wanted to do that.

But there is this page I added:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?action=team

the link is at the bottom near the online list, next to the stats link

The recommend button is not showing up for me, nor are three of the new editor buttons (The Face Book, twttr, Burbn) tho at least for them I could access them and find out what they are for using the alt-text hint.

I really like the feature to redact quotes from ignored users.

Generally all good changes, apart from the recommend button. That function should not continue beyond the trial stage, or at least be possible to remove. It doesn't have any point. People can judge themselves whether a post is recommendable or not, and such a teller is rather likely to reduce quality of posts, moving towards more partisan hackery.

AtlasMod 2.0

2. Enhanced post editor

A rich text post editor has been added to the forum, which will allow you to view your post as it will appear (more or less), and toggle between text and display mode. This will allow you to craft rich, detailed posts faster. Click the link for an example of what this looks like.

Go to your AtlasMod Profile Options to enable the new post editor
I can't get it to go into Display Mode. I have "Source Mode" in the lower right corner, and if I hover, I get the tool tip.

In the extreme lower right, there are a couple of black lines. The cursor changes to Select (finger) if I point at it.

Also, if I do a Preview, I get Black on Charcoal, very hard (i.e. impossible) to read.

The preview thing is a known issue. It should be fixed by tomorrow or so.

Did you click the right button to get into display mode? It would be that document-icon button, next to the full screen + printer buttons.

No I didn't click that button.

The tool tip is not at all obvious - I don't know if you can control that.

What is the target in the extreme lower right corner? I get an index cursor findex when I hover.

I seem to still be limited to 5 PMs per individual PM. Is this because I was banned 4 years ago?

It's there so you can enlarge the editor by dragging it with your cursor

3. YouTube / Instagram / Facebook BBCodes

Atlas now supports bbcode for these popular services.

I'm not entirely sure what this means.  I don't see either of these features when I am making posts -only Twitter.

You're probably still using the old editor. Change it on your options page:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?action=profile;sa=atlasmod

"Use advanced post editor"

You don't need to use that editor to be able to use the bbcode, but it's the only editor that shows the actual buttons. Otherwise you just have to type it out, like [youtube]url[/youtube]

Thanks -I tried using the advanced post editor through that link you provided, but it still seems to have some bugs that have to be worked out.  For instance, it won't let me type anything.

Just curious, but does it work on other threads? Like if you start a new thread with the new post editor, can you type stuff/etc? Did it only not work when you quoted my post?

I noticed it bugged out when you quoted my post, but nothing else. That was because it was trying to parse the youtube bbcode example I put in there, and couldn't because the URL was invalid. The javascript error caused the rest of the editor code to malfunction. I need to fix that.

It should work fine on other threads though. If it doesn't, what happens? Can you take a screenshot?

It still won't let me type anything, though I can quote other user's posts that I am replying to.
