When nationalists race to defend this country the way the NK media defends their man, they are not wrong. The point still stands that there is a lot we can and should improve. Criticizing someone who points out that a deplorable act of war against ordinary, simple, and innocent people has been made an opportunity to discriminate against her and people like her illustrates that point.

I can see how the words she used seem to minimize the events of September 11th, but she also has a point about how all Muslims are blamed for it.  She is letting her frustration about that fact get to her and it results in coming off as self-serving and unsympathetic in the eyes of her critics.
