Notice how Fox and Friends is able to successfully propagandize every statement made from this person and inject false and dangerous rhetoric into an otherwise unremarkable moment in a speech. For those who go beyond the pearl-clutching headline and actually listen to Omar's words she was very clearly making the argument that the terrorist attacks on September 11th ushered in a wave of Islamophobia that has yet to recede. These inflammatory articles and tweets questioning her loyalty only prove her point to be accurate.

The only real error Omar made was stating CAIR was founded in response to 9/11 as it was actually formed in 1994.

What Omar said was obviously awful, but I believe it was motivated by resentment of being associated with evil people through no fault of her own, rather than a flippant attitude towards tragedy.

Equally disturbing, however, is Dan Crenshaw quoting a tweet making an unsubstantiated McCarthyite charge against a leading think tank advocating for Arab Americans.

I can see how the words she used seem to minimize the events of September 11th, but she also has a point about how all Muslims are blamed for it.  She is letting her frustration about that fact get to her and it results in coming off as self-serving and unsympathetic in the eyes of her critics.

Alright. I see how it could be interpreted as trivialization too but the outrage that it is producing is a kind of proactive "whataboutism" given the point she was making that it was a situation that was already cheapened by those who are using it to get or to do whatever they want.
