Some might complain that it was skimpy on killing off big characters, but lots of things to still do.  Actually glad that Grey Worm and Missandei survived, cause there's no reason they should have to die in the land of racist hicks.

Aside from creating a cool visual, what genius thought sending the Dothraki out was a good idea?

Yeah, like who actually thought that would work? You had a sense that wouldn't right from the get go. And now Daenerys lost like half her army in one fell swoop because of that.

And yeah, no big character is safe going forward except Sansa, Bran, and maybe Arya. They let way too many important people live in tonight's episode, and there will almost assuredly be a bloodbath to come.

Yeah, I understand they wanted to set the tone for the episode, but sending all of the Dothraki just charging head-on into 100,000 wights was absurdly stupid. The placement of the trebuchets was bad too.

The Dothraki Charge may have been absurd and stupid but there are numerous real-life examples of similar follies, such as the Charge of the Light Brigade during the Crimean War.  Or the massive but doomed infantry assaults by the Union Army of the Potomac on Marye's Heights at Fredericksburg or the Confederate charge at Cemetery Ridge at the battle of Gettysburg on July 3.  And that's just to pick some better known examples.  So hardly unrealistic.

It doesn't help that we can't see Arya and Sansa's reactions when Jon Bran tells them the truth of his parentage...    Angry

It is safe to say that Daenerys Targaryen will go full Mad Queen when even Emilia Clarke (who is playing her) says she will.

There is a theory going around that the Golden Company may betray Cersei and support either Daenerys or Aegon (aka Jon Snow) for the Iron Throne.

Thoughts?

FWIW does anyone know what's happened to Dorne's Army?

The Golden Company has the sole aim of getting rid of House Targyaren; there's a line in the books where they say 'some contracts are written in ink, others are written in blood'.

Not sure how many people know but they were set up by a bastard strain of House Targyaren; and for them to flip it would pretty much require a huge part of the lore to be changed.

I think the door to them supporting a Targaryen on the Iron Throne is very much open.

From the 'Dance with Dragons':

Quote
Tyrion: How did you convince the Golden Company to take up the cause of our sweet queen when they have spent so much of their history fighting against the Targaryens?

Illyrio: Black or red, a dragon is still a dragon. When Maelys the Monstrous died upon the Stepstones, it was the end of the male line of House Blackfyre. And Daenerys will give the exiles what Bittersteel and the Blackfyres never could. She will take them home.

And on the show, I think D & D will have them intervening on behalf of Daenerys and/or Aegon at the 11th hour -they want a happy ending.

Worth noting that Emilia Clarke prepared for that famous speech by Daenerys Targaryen after the (Second) Sack of Kings Landing by watching speeches by famous historical figures, including Adolf Hitler:

Something to think about....  Tongue

Any possible guesses as to where Drogon is taking Daenerys Targaryen's body?  I have heard a theory that he's taking her to Volantis, the home of the Temple of the Lord of Light, where maybe they can restore her to life the way Melisandre did with Jon Snow.

Perhaps King Bran the Broken has made the same guess, which is why he is so keen to know where Drogon has flown.

What does everyone think of this proposed ending for Season 8?

I like this guy's alternative ending, though I have questions as to how Arya is wearing Jaime's face when the original owner is still alive, and I think it more fitting for Daenerys to have triplets with Jon Snow as opposed to just one child, perhaps two sisters and one brother in an echo of Aegon and his two sisters.
