Good move by the GOP and people laughed when I say that black Democrats might be willing to work with the GOP to create a 5-3 MAP or 6-2 MAP in the 2020's as long as black representation gets increased.

you realize it is easy to create a 7-1 map with 4 black seats? They may want back representation, but they are still Democrats.

Black people have been overwhelmingly loyal to the Democratic party since the 1960s, they can very well be described as the vital base of the party.

the only black dem rn with enough seniority to make a request like that is cummings, and he is on the retire watch. not to mention that is totally different, because even a seat that isn't safe black is probably still safe democrat.

On a slightly related note. Maryland Question six(yes or no on gay marriage) has a hilarious map

The super white Frederick county but swingish to moderately Republican votes for Gay marriage but the  90% Clinton county but heavily black Prince George's county votes against gay marriage.

Yeah, that was funny. Goes to show how at least back then, African Americans were more socially conservative on gay marriage.
