Right, the budget is here!

We'll be having the budget debate during the coming days, but it bears reminding that A. the Government is only funded until April 30th and B. the 2020 Budget will have to be crafted fairly soon anyway. I certainly trust the House to be very responsible with this, but it's important to note the current context.

This needs a sponsor.

LouisvilleThunder is recognized as sponsor.

Given the context and the relevance of the budget I'd strongly urge the House to comment on it so as to not push for a vote without a debate - which I'd rather not do unless it's absolutely necessary -.

Alright, this budget does cut the deficit by a whopping 400 billion dollars from around $900 billlion last year. This is a lot of progress done mainly through cutting bloated government bureaucracy and making things more efficient. This was done largely through the work of the DPC members and the GM team.

We in the GM team merely provided budget impact scores for new laws and calculated GDP, unemployment, and resulting tax receipts. Credit for the actual deficit reduction should go solely to lawmakers. While some deficit reduction is the result of higher tax receipts due to higher GDP and lower unemployment, our calculations necessarily factor in decisions made by lawmakers.

Truly shameful: I remember building two consecutive surplus-laden budgets myself that led to a framework of responsible budgetary procedures in the years that followed. Now, after three years of mostly Federalist rule, the deficit is sky-high! Cry

Unfortunately, since you were President last, a combination of an inept GM department, inept administration from both sides of the aisle, and lack of interest in the budget process over the last several years got us to this point. Things were starting to get better in 2018 on all fronts, but then we got President Weatherboy, and that well, didn't help. But I'd note that it is a Federalist Administration that is finally and firmly getting on top of this.

I'd certainly love to get more into the weeds of this, but due to months of little/no action, we are at a point where we have to get something passed to avoid another continuing resolution or risking a shutdown. I applaud all of those who worked very hard to get this version before Congress - it isn't where we want to be, but is certainly a leap in the right direction.

I ask Congress to quickly approve this before the April 30th deadline. Once approved, I look forward to getting discussions for the 2020 budget underway early so that we have plenty of time to adequately debate next years' budget - budget debates are one of the highlights of the game!

I strongly encourage the passing of the budget before us. While not perfect, it is the first step to a solid budget.

Plus Im pretty sure Yankee said they double counted taxes and had an effective tax rate in excess of 100% due to lazy Marxist accounting back when the budget was "balanced".

I'd encourage a representative to motion for a final vote on this today so it can get to the Senate Floor by late Saturday, giving them adequate time to pass it.

I've looked through the Atlasia FY2015 budget and it seems like unusually low spending numbers in some areas were part of the reason for the balanced budget. For instance, total military spending was 63.5% of what it was IRL in that year, income security for veterans was at 50.2%, and administration of justice was at 49.3%. However, some of those changes were offset by areas where spending was higher than it was IRL (education was at 118% for instance, while 'Community and Regional Development' was at 181%). Meanwhile, on the revenue side, there was a carbon tax providing 150 billion per year.

The deficit is sky high because of the reset. We inherited all of the deficts of the RL situation in May June 2016.

So regardless of the quality of those budgets, it should be noted that you also indirectly eliminated them by helping to pass the fourth constitution. Remember that the next time you are crowing about your Presidency. Tongue

And yes, there were major problems that transpired pre-reset, mainly that the GM numbers were often wishful thinking and didn't really mesh well with often sky high unemployment and other numbers that the GM offices were putting out in many of those years.
