I wonder if the Islam apologists deny this.

Yes, it is obviously.

My denomination isn't. Women have full equality and can be ministers and have no extra demands on them, etc. Obviously I have just as dim an opinion on sexist Christian denominations like the Catholic church and Southern Baptists.

No.  At least not any more so than several other major religions.

Ah see, I pretty much agree. But is that a yes or a no? Going by what BR just said I'd suppose it's a yes, not a no.

Worth noting that Islamist terrorist groups are pretty much the only ones in the world that aren't gender-inclusive. Pretty much the only ones that are are those from a more nationalist angle, like Palestineans and Chechens, and even then female members are only common in the more secular groups. And of course that recentely captured woman, although it sounds as if she was largely forced into it by her husband.

Can anyone really imagine a woman directing al-Qaeda operations? This factoid to me makes Islamist terrorists even slightly more despicable than most other terrorists.

Religion is not an absolute property.  It is passed down through traditions and interpreted.  As far as I am concerned, moderate Muslims are the real Islamists and are practicing their religion according to the highest beliefs of the religion.  As moderate Muslims aren't sexist, Islam is not inherently sexist either.

OK, let's look at a Muslim country often considered moderate like Egypt. Anything like Saudi Arabia or the Taliban? Well no. But still maritial rape is legal and married women can not leave the country unattended without their husband's permission. That's still pretty sexist.

It was in Germany until quite recently. BILD campaigned against the law change, calling it a law against marital sex.

That is indeed.

By the way, there's parliamentary elections in Egypt.
8 provinces have voted so far, and the Muslim Brotherhood (much the largest opposition party in the country, technically illegal, with some restrictions lifted very recently) has already doubled its no. of MPs from the last entire parliament. (Of course they're technically independents.)

You're not a real Christian, and any denomnation that would have you obviously isn't representative of Christianity.

Of course your denomination is.  If you believe in the Bible, which I assume you do, I'm sure you're aware that it is written from an extremely masculine point of view, as was the culture at that time.

Yes; one of the few good things about the religion.

Of course. Their hatred of gays is also praise worthy.

Most conservative Protestant denominations are sexist, even if they aren't fundamentalist. I agree with you that liberal Protestants tend not to be sexist.

You are right BRTD.  It is a well documented fact that we Catholics routinuely beat our wives and hide our daughters math and scinece textbooks.

Well obviously I meant the Catholic chuch, not Catholic rank and file. Flyers is definately not sexist.

But the Catholic church obviously is in exluding women from being priests. They also have a position which I find rather degrading in which it's basically a woman's job to keep popping out lots of kids and a sin to prevent conception.
