Kamala Harris clinches the nomination at a contested convention against Bernie Sanders. Unfortunately, she alienates progressives by narrowly beating out Bernie Sanders. A left wing Tulsi Gabbard/ Nina Turner drains yet more from the Democrats. Harris campaigns on a very social justice-y  platform which drive WWC from her base. In order to appeal to the woman, and progressive vote she picks NY senator Kirsten Gillibrand as her VP pick. Trump essentially campaigns on the term, "promises made, promises kept" with a little racial dog whistling.
