Favorite Batman

So at the beginning of this week I did a poll based on Bruce Wayne (still open) as a means to commemorate 80 years of Batman. The second half was to go after Gotham aired, and now that is done.

So now, along with the secret identity, here's one for the Caped Crusader himself.

Now my top 3 Bruce Waynes look like:

Anyway, mine are:

3. Adam West [Batman TV Series]
2. Michael Keaton [Batman '89/Returns]
1. David Mazouz [Gotham]

Least fave: Val Kilmer (He was a passable Batman though fwiw)

Will explain later.

But my top 3 for Batman are

3. Ben Affleck
2. Michael Keaton
1. Kevin Conroy [still the voice]

Least fave: George Clooney [was a passable Bruce though]

Honestly, kind of the same as my last list in the Bruce Wayne thread. I might move Christian Bale one notch above Val Kilmer though. I actually wasn't considering their separate entities too much in my ranking.

Now that the 30th for the movie that launched much of the genre of superhero movies as we know 'em, time to elaborate:

3. Ben Affleck

He had an excellent suit, and he really the intimidation factor down without getting too ridiculously theatrical [looking @ you Christian Bale] when he tries to speak. The only thing that holds him back from spot one is the lack of time for him to do much, often bending towards whatever the plot wanted him to do. But it was such a good performance. That and branding enemies is just plain wrong.

2. Michael Keaton

He's the only Batman that could make a simple grin genuinely terrifying, and the voice he used was quite good. While I could criticize the turns brought on by the limitations of the suit itself, I think that's a little unfair considering the situation. I appreciated that his Batman took no prisoners, pulled no punches, and did what he had to. Also turning around the Batmobile to light someone on fire is darkly hilarious. But I appreciated that this Batman was one that kept his profile low, took no prisoners, and always went straight to the point. I appreciate that he didn't have "that one rule" because that kinda suspends disbelief in this medium.

1. Kevin Conroy

This Batman easily had the most range of any of them. Anger, rage, sorrow, disgust, wtf-ness, deadpan snark, all condensed into one voice depending on the situation. He also could do an unsettling laugh.
