Restrictions on how much medication a person can be legally prescribed (especially for depression and mental health) should be abolished.

Lyrica should be available over-the-counter.

It is not impossible that Trump carries an Orange County House district in 2020.

He lost district CA-48 for instance 48-46, so even accounting for a Dem trend if he somehow were winning the popular vote he'd be carrying the district. Do I believe he will win either? No. But I don't believe it's impossible. Also, you're being hypocritical if you think one of the Iowa districts that was also something like Trump +2 and trending right can vote D but a district like CA-48 that was Clinton +2 and trending left can't vote R.

At the end of the day, impeachment will have little impact on 2020. It will be long gone and forgotten. Also, I feel like this is an issue that while is slightly against dems is not even that high on people's reasons on how they are voting, and the GOP is unsuccessfully gonna try to make a big deal out of it (closest comparison I can think of is confederate statues in VA Gov 2017). No one gonna be like I was gonna vote dem, but now Im gonna be voting GOP because impeachment. The absolute most it could do is boost base turnout. Also, I feel like there are people like me, who are against impeachment but are obviously still going to vote dem.

Ken Burns's Country Music is better than his Civil War documentary, and will go down not just as one of the best documentaries of all time, but should be treated as one of the best pieces of American storytelling ever.

A Trump second term is better for the Progressive agenda than a Biden win would be.

that is indeed a terrible take. Possibly the worst I've heard all week.

I genuinely, honestly cannot grasp--emotionally, empathetically grasp--how a decent human being can possibly be right-wing on material issues, although I believe strongly enough in fair play and honest discussion and have a clear enough intellectual understanding of most arguments for right-wing positions that I'm able to act as if I can grasp it.

People can be selfish. And the ones who adopt such selfish right-wing positions on material issues convince themselves that most recipients of government Aid are lazy Moochers. They are helped, you see, I encourage in self-reliance rather than generational adherence to the welfare culture.

At least that's what they tell them selves out loud, when inside it comes down to Simply " I got mine, so f*** you".

Trump gets removed from office shortly after Super Tuesday, and President Pence gets sworn in, after getting stabbed in the back by Republicans in the Senate, too late for them to worry about getting primaried by vindictive Trumpistas....

Pence becomes President pledging to follow through on all of Trump's major policy initiatives, but with a much cleaner style of politics and more focused on foreign policy, and wins "reelection" in November 2020.

By the Fall of 2021 US Military Forces are gearing up for yet another major war, this time against a much more powerful foe....

I don't trust or even really like Barbara Bollier, I think she is way overrated, a B tier candidate at best, more like C tier, and would get crushed by double digits against anyone but Kobach.

Unless you independently have an almost unlimited source of money to draw from, Hawaii would be an absolutely terrible, utterly awful state to live in and anyone who desires to move there clearly hasn't looked up anything about the state aside from the weather. There's a reason Hawaii Governors are almost always laughably unpopular.

Having been to Hawaii multiple times, I agree.  Several reasons:
  • You're constantly under threat of annihilation from a volcano.  Maybe insurance can save you, but look at the Leilani Estates -- they all just got f***ed.  And since you probably made this Hawaii home your "dream house" (I mean, nobody fantasizes about a mosquito-ridden ranch down a dirt road in the middle of the underbrush, which is the standard Hawaii home), you've got most of your net worth invested in it, which you just lost.
  • Basic utilities are highly questionable.  Having running, clean water is a luxury that many on the island don't enjoy.  Same for electricity and WiFi.  A lot of people do it guerilla-style.  Even if you buy a home that has all the niceties you enjoyed on the mainland, it will still probably be far below the quality you're expecting.
  • The amount of racism on the island is insane.  If you're white, the native Hawaiians will look down on you.  And heaven forbid you think about sending your kid to school there, they'll be bullied day-in and day-out.
  • It's very difficult to get around.  Almost all roads are single-lane, low-speed-limit, and prone to random shutdowns, and there are so few that if a road gets closed for any reason you'll have to drive an hour out of your way.
  • Nobody is going to come see you.  You might fantasize about hosting a big family reunion at your Hawaii estate, but no one's gonna pay $1500 and spend 16 hours to fly from the east coast to Hawaii for that.  They'll say "let's just do Hilton Head, it's so much cheaper and easier for everyone."
  • If your experience of Hawaii is the resorts, you haven't been exposed to real Hawaii.  The resorts monopolize the areas with good weather and beaches.  The rest of the islands have lousy, rainy weather, rough seas and beaches covered in rocks and lava deposits.
  • Similarly, the areas of Hawaii outside the resorts are teeming with wild animals.  The big island, for instance, is overrun with wild pigs.  You won't have to deal with this when you're sipping Mai Tais on Waikaloa.  You will have to deal with it at your house.
  • Everything is expensive and there's very little diversity of offerings.  If you like golf, you're in luck.  If not, well, there's probably like one bowling alley on your island and it's constantly in danger of going out of business.  One pool hall, maybe.  There aren't big malls you can go to that have all your favorite shops, so if you want those new Ted Baker shoes, you're probably stuck ordering them online, and paying exorbitant shipping costs.
  • You probably bought your dream home here, which was expensive, meaning you had a lot of ambition and drive to build up that bankroll and chase your dream.  But once you move out here you'll find most of the population lives on island time and has that island mindset.  You'd better develop a lot of apathy and patience real quick or you'll lose your mind over the daily indignities and frustrations.

and so on.

I enjoy crapping all over how poorly written Season 8 of Game of Thrones was as much as the next person, but the complaining over the last three episodes/what happens with the Iron Throne is very overrated and misplaced, IMO.  The series crossed the point of no return and had no redeemable future as soon as 1) the White Walkers' motivation was "explained" in a rushed, let's-get-this-BS-over-with-so-we-can-get-to-Kings-Landing manner by Bran in Episode 2 and 2) the Night King was killed off with zero back story, twist, "other-worldly" element, etc.  The series spent seven seasons doing two things that set it apart from generic fantasy or generic BBC-style historical dramas, neither of which ever have the mass appeal GoT had:

1) Introducing an existential threat in the first scene that was slowly undermining the petty human political squabbling ... this had reached a climax by Season 8, and the series HAD to deliver on a satisfying (enough) conclusion, or it would fail.

2) Building up a sense of mystery and hinting at a huge plot twist regarding the White Walkers, and specifically the connection between the Night King and Bran.  D&D chickened out in the eleventh hour, because this was out of their comfort zone.  They abandoned the tone and overall messaging of the series when it was too late to do so, and they tried to go back to "the battle for the Iron Throne," which was always going to seem pathetically hollow and a massive letdown.

You just can't spend so much effort and time telling us the political intrigue is ultimately meaningless in favor of a much more existential and interesting threat only to quickly dispatch of it and return to the same old stuff.  Imagine House of Cards but there is a giant asteroid coming for Earth, and the series is trying to show us that this political maneuvering is actually meaningless, and the characters have to come together to survive ... but then the asteroid misses by total luck, and the finale is a Presidential Election, haha.  That is the BS we got.

GoT died after Season 8, Episode 3.  Everything after was bound to disappoint no matter what.
