I blathered on about this in the other thread, but I'll give a quick summary as to why I think this is a bad idea:

"Free speech" is not "backlash-free speech," and while it's obviously a very important right it does not infringe on other rights, such as freedom of association. In other words, I don't think the government has the right to tell businesses what to do unless the businesses are actually harming people, and because there are other options on the internet I don't think this qualifies as harm. I don't believe there is in any way a free speech crisis on the internet in Atlasia, and really there would have to be one to call for government intervention in such an area (there are definitely more real crises that arguably do, but I suppose that's off-topic).

Twitter suspended David Horowitz from the Freedom Center on Tuesday. The purge continues.

We are witnessing the elimination of conservatism from the public square.

Jumping in here, this resolution should be numbered S.19.2-6, S.19.2-5 was already used:
https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=319251.0

Also there are 3 new items in the introduction thread.

Thankyou Wulfric. I have started the three new debating threads with this numbering in mind and left S.19.2-6 for the speaker to fix the titling of this thread

As this discussion has died down and a lot of the discussion was had on the (tabled) legislation thread on this I motion that this is put to a final vote.

The purge continues.

We are witnessing the elimination of conservatism from the public square.

Isn't Fox News literally the "most watched cable news network?"

To say that a few right-wing people may be banned from social networks sites and maybe shouldn't be? A fair discussion, I guess. To say that there is literally a mass silencing or even "purge" (!) of, depending on your definition, a third to a half of the people in Atlasia is just recklessly alarmist in a country where we actually have unusually permissive freedom of speech laws in the context of human history (which is a good thing imo).

As this discussion has died down and a lot of the discussion was had on the (tabled) legislation thread on this I motion that this is put to a final vote.

Seconded considering we're obviously just re-hashing stuff now lol

This resolution is not needed, there is no "purging" or "suppression" of conservative speech on the internet.

This resolution is not needed, there is no "purging" or "suppression" of conservative speech on the internet.

I would like it noted for the record that a Vice Presidential Candidate does not see freedom of speech on the internet as a priority. Ignoring the concerns of this chamber and the great Southern Region. Dismissing Southern concerns as "not needed". I don't hold much hope that those in Nyman will pay any attention to our concerns if the Speaker of the House, who is a VP Candidate on a major ticket is interrupting a vote in this chamber. A vote that while still open, will pass as there were already 5 votes in favor of the resolution when this interjection into the chamber to saying that this is "not needed". Since then we've had another delegate vote in favor of the resolution. Meaning that (at worst 6-1) the vast majority of the chamber hold that this is a concern for Southerners. Hopefully this motion rustles the Jimmies of those in Nyman to actually do something. Although there is obviously one Jimmy it wont.
