Governor Bill Lee has signed the Human Life Protection Act, which will make abortion illegal in Tennessee 30 days after the complete or partial overturning of Roe v. Wade.

How would a “partial” overturn work?

I assume that it means allowing something like a heartbeat bill without explicitly overturning Roe.

It's also worth saying that this law does not allow the prosecution of post-abortive women only the "doctors".

What if there is no doctor?

I really don't understand why a bunch of old white conservative men think they're in any position to interfere with a personal medical procedure between a woman and her doctor...

Because they're men. And I say this as a man, myself.
To quote a wise lady....

Accurately noting that most men are monstrous does not really change the abortion debate in any substantial way.

I agree that Ruben Diaz, Marsha Blackburn, and Amy Coney Barrett should be placed in charge of all U.S. abortion policy.

Huh, in what way does that imply that all men are monstrous? It’s pointing out a double standard

I've got another good one.

If an immigrant is impregnated in the U.S., the child should be automatically given American citizenship, since the egg is apparently a baby from the moment it is fertilized, after all.

What do we can birthright citizenship? Does this also mean you turn 21 9 months earlier?
I tried that on my ex’s dad once and he said “the 👮‍♀️ don’t think you are 21”.

If it counts enough to force a raped 11 year old to try to give birth, it's enough for any other legal considerations, including citizenship.

What would the map look like if Roe were overturned?

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/26/us/kansas-abortion-ruling.html

Kansas will be a right-to-choose state for at least the next 8 years.

Is there a list of known Right-to-Life and Right-to-Choose states?

Right to Life is where there are recent intentions to enact personhood, trigger laws, or heartbeat bills and Right to Choose is where there are either statutory, judicial, or constitutional protects or sanctuary counties where the local top prosecutor or LEO openly will not arrest or prosecute abortion recipients or providers.

This is why we need more laws like what was passed in New York.

There might be some practical issues with verifying that.

Not at all. Gestation stages can easily be verified and traced back. Now, own up to your position.

So the person would have to prove that they were in the US for a certain window of time?

Sure, okay.   But I think they should still get citizenship even if they were just born here.

I guess we'll find out whether the SCOTUS will enforce Roe v. Wade or not.

Not sure how that would work exactly, since everything is being redefined in this hypothetical scenario.

The GOP's war on women has got to stop.

I guess we'll find out whether the SCOTUS will enforce Roe v. Wade or not.

I'd say yes, but Trump and parlamentary arm led by an old turtle made sure there enough right wing judges on the bench.

Stare decisis, a cornerstone of Anglo-American jurisprudence, establishes that legislation cannot repudiate legal precedents. Such prevents legal anarchy.

Missouri is set to pass their cruel farce of an anti-abortion bill in the Senate later this week. The House already passed it.

As for my home state of Illinois, the legislature needs to wake the hell up and pass the Reproductive Health Act to protect repro rights in the event that Roe gets struck down or significantly weakened.

If Kavanaugh is the deciding vote to keep abortion legal, is it the greatest irony in American history?

Note: I'm assuming this question is moot since I don't see Roberts or Gorsuch overturning it either, but it's a fun hypothetical.
