It's like the various state Republican parties are having a contest to see who can be the most idiotic.

Ohio GOP Bill requires doctors reimplant ectopic pregnancy or face murder charges...

And as stated in the title, this "procedure" is literally impossible to perform.

Just proof that some people shouldn’t be allowed to vote because they are insane.

We live in a world, and a country, controlled by clowns.  That's the only reasonable explanation that makes sense at this point.

The GOP doesn't believe in science at all. Period.

I guess that's the thought process:

"We don't actually understand how women's reproductive systems work, and we don't want to, so let's just make up how it works to suit our own agenda and sign it into law!"

This country is truly in peril.

Unfortunately I think they know full well how this works and are creating these laws out of pure spite towards women.

Ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg implants itself outside the uterus.   The bill is asking abortion doctors to put a fertilized egg (or maybe fetus I guess, if that's possible?) back into the uterus to properly grow and develop.

There is currently no medical procedure to perform what the bill is demanding.

Basically this bill mandates human experimentation on pain of death. Maybe we could figure out how to do fetal transplants if we just threw $20 billion dollars at the problem and maybe by the 2030s it would have happened at least once. Doctors have been able to do IVF since 1980, but taking an embryo from one place and putting it in the other after it already implanted somewhere else is totally different.

It’s attitudes like these that cause unnatural sex imbalances in certain parts of the world. We are constantly subsidizing and taking refugees from resulting wreckage of societies.

Language in the bill says "all possible steps to preserve the life of the unborn child, while preserving the life of the woman. Such steps include, if applicable, attempting to reimplant an ectopic pregnancy into the woman's uterus."

That is a very odd inclusion, and who knows what they were thinking.  But seeing as it's not even something possible to do, then it couldn't be required according to the very same clause of the bill. Absent some major advance in medical science, the text here basically nullifies itself.

A great reminder on how extreme and out of touch the pro-life activist movement can be, given how much they like to point to the ostensible extremism of pro-choice advocates.

I mean, the pro-choice side has people who literally believe that abortions past the point of viability should be allowed.  Meanwhile, the pro-life side has people who want to re-implant fetuses in ectopic pregnancies when the technology comes along.  #Bothsides.

What's closer to the median voter? The median voter thinks abortion should be generally permissible albeit actively discouraged in the first trimester and illegal but permissible in the case of severe unforeseeable consequences in the second.

The pro-choice side is a heck of a lot more correct than pro life.

Pennsylvania’s republicans continue to embarrass...

A Pennsylvania bill would require death certificates for fertilized eggs that never implant in the uterus

That's a far fetched interpretation of that bill. It says "The expulsion or extraction from its mother of a product of conception which shows no evidence of life after the expulsion or extraction."  If there's no observable body/remains, there's no way for the law to apply.

Ummm...No? This isn’t a game of peek a boo. I guess you think it’s ok if someone did something if they are late and they didn’t go to the doctor or tell anyone.
