This bill is a serious tax cut and subsidy to maintain our current spread of electrical generating plants throughout our southern region with a little bit of direction to the governor to speed up offshore drilling. If we're ever going to have full Energy independence we can't be having our current plants being decommissioned and shutdown.

The consumer will benefit as they will pay less for energy as we will have more then enough under the above plan.

(I hope you don't mind I have taken the liberty of making some readability edits in terms of formatting)

The reason I suggest this amendment is it gives budgets time to adjust to the new law. It also makes provides a definitive commencement date and a clear break in of tax periods.

Now I'd like to point out that we have we have already given a 2% business tax break in for those who opt in to TIPS. I'm not sure an extra 5% is quite warranted at this time for the energy sector.

Due to the chamber losing a number of delegates I am suspending the vote until the new delegates are sworn in. The new members may wish to debate this legislation. Also everyone except pragmatic populist has been tardy to this vote.

In addition, when the sponsor is no longer a Delegate, his or her sponsorship shall be revoked automatically. If no member of the Chamber of Delegates moves to assume sponsorship of the legislation within 48 hours, the legislation shall be tabled automatically.

I have been 50/50 on this proposal from the start. I don't object to the intention of this bill. However, I'm not entirely sold on this bill and as such I will not be voting in favor. I don't think we discussed the possible effects of this bill enough. I have had further thoughts but it is too late too amend.

Ultimately, I was conflicted on this bill as well. Ultimately nuclear subsidies won the day for me, outweighing other provisions in the bill. There was more good than bad as a whole, and my Aye vote reflects that. But either an Aye or a Nay could be justified. The balance was close.
