I can see Gingrich, Santorum, Bachmann, and Perry all having appeal to Trump 2016 voters.

Gingrich, Santorum, and Romney all shared future Trump voters, but Gingrich's candidacy (along with some other factors) basically created the sort of mutated neo-paleocon populist wing in the party that Trump eventually made his base.

All three. More liberal Trump voters (such as ones in New Hampshire) went for Romney, while more conservative/evangelical ones went for Santorum or Gingrich.
