Basically a common sense bill that ensures companies that are awarded federal contracts are complying with our laws. It does not affect companies that aren't under a contract with us, and it does not harm employers that didn't know the citizenship status of an employee.

I will oppose this bill when it comes to a vote

I will also oppose this bill, as this stigmatizes undocumented immigrants who are trying to make ends meet.

So you think it's acceptable that Atlasia offers federal contracts to companies that violate the law?

This wouldn't affect their ability to be employed with companies that are not seeking federal contracts.

I agree with Rep. JGibson. This would be an unnecessary impediment to work for undocumented people in Atlasia. I hope that my House colleagues in the Labor Party will remember that immigrants deserve workers’ rights too.

Shouldn't this bill at the very first be renamed to your employees must be legally here?

I agree. This bill needs a more truthful title.

Fixing the title concern.

Better?

Objection. What the heck is a "legal citizen"? This just takes a bill that's already anti-immigrant, and changes the title to a parody of itself. Adding insult to injury doesn't make it better.

People who have a legal right to live in the country.

This bill isn't "anti-immigrant". Nothing in this bill outlines that undocumented immigrants be deported, nothing in this bill says they can't be employed anywhere else, nothing in this bill goes after legal immigrants. This simply goes after big companies that bid for federal contracts, often paying undocumented immigrants significantly less than they should be paid, sometimes under the table. You'd think the Labor Party (and I'm counting you in this because you are basically part of their party) would support going after businesses that violate laws, not protect them.

"Legal citizen" implies this bills restricts to only "citizens" when it should be something like "legal residents", correct?
