Could we end up having the exact same map for multiple elections in a row?

I think this trend of intense polarization will almost definitely end before we get to that point.

If we got to the point where one party was consistently winning every single presidential election (as would be the case if there were no swing states), then the losing party would eventually adapt and start winning elections again.

No because people move, die, turn 18, and become citizens. Also, turnout fluxuates.

No then we will just have swing states akin to Florida rather than NH.

Polarization will probably end soon after the next realignment. American voters are not polarized by ideology but the political elite which make up the government are. As Baby Boomers fade from public life and their voting power decreases....things will mellow down at some point in the future.

See: Politicians more polarized than voters, Stanford political scientist finds

Once trash like McConnell and useless Clintonite Dems are gone....they'll take their polarization with them.

It's a matter of when that alignment will be. It certainly won't be soon.

Naww...IMO its coming pretty soon. See: America’s Coming Political Realignment

You're essentially suggesting that we'll unify around the agenda of Warren or Sanders. Which is fine with me — I'm in full agreement. But that consensus won't be reached until we crush the older generation and its poisonous media apparatus. Which is, again, fine by me. But you do realize that what you're heralding is the end of modern conservatism, right? They love McConnell and Trump precisely because they didn't care about democratic legitimacy, and attempted to put Obama in his (non-white) place. So this is going to be a dirty, nasty endeavor, and the end result will be the de-platforming and de-legitimization of much of the contemporary right. It's a necessary outcome, but we should be cognizant of what's entailed. The opposition won't view it as consensus — they'll view it as the end, and rightfully so.

This can very well be the Democratic map of 2012, even if Tim Ryan is selected as Veep; AZ and IA are trending Democratic faster than OH
