The fact you had to cite examples ranging from 6 months to 3 years prior to the present day reveals the fact that the point of this thread was not to provoke any kind of decent discussion, but to simply fill this subforum with another excuse for low effort posting, circlejerking and nonsensical one-dimensional hot takes.

You really think everyone's opinions change that often? I'm sure if I posted one from a week ago, you'd say "The fact that you had to cite examples ranging from 1 week ago to...."

At any rate, the point of my post was to point out that yes, despite you not seeing it with your own eyes, it does in fact exist.

Now, please, post more about how this board is trash. Don't forget to use the term "circlejerk" again. It's the only way to convey this opinion!

"B-but I still found a poster!!!"
The lengths at which you go to defend this thread is hilariously pathetic. If you wish to delve into the archives of Atlas and find an example from a week ago of a poster heralding Generation Z as the oncoming tide of conservatism for me, then be my guest!
"Conservative"
Gen Z. As I've mentioned in previous threads, the kids have some interesting ideas about what it means to be conservative. They might be religious, but their guiding principle is supposedly rationality. Snooty Aristotelian conservatives, or as Wikipedia calls them, "traditionalist conservatives". Like liberals today, these people get their kicks calling everyone but themselves crazy and acting like they're the voice of reason. They dodge most of the hard questions, much like their beloved philosopher king and Washington outsider nominee, Ben Shapiro. Don't win any electoral votes but siphon young voters from the GOP.

This is a fantasy. Actually, the whole post is a fantasy, but this is especially delirious. All the evidence shows that Gen Z is decidedly NOT conservative. Nobody actually cares about Ben Shapiro offline. Please, for the sake of your own health and sanity, go outside.

He's right, and just because you don't want to believe something doesn't mean it isn't real and happening. Gen Z is a R leaning generation and is definitely more conservative than Millenials.

Yes, that's right. Gen Z is a R leaning generation and they are fed up with the status quo. And there is nothing you can do about it.

Anyone fed up with the status quo is going to be voting Democratic next November, so I hope you're right.

Lol the democrats are the status quo. The democrats are the establishment right now.

If you can't realize or even accept that then you are numb to the head.

Gen Z starts at 2000. Those people haven't really gotten into college yet anyhow.

The real R swing starts with people born right after 2002, the ones who were just getting into politics when Trump pulled off his right wing revolution and Brexit was happening.

I don't think gen z is R leaning but to suggest if it was that would make colleges swing right is crazy. College is always going to be overwhelmingly liberal

IIRC, even the electoral precincts located entirely on the Texas A&M campus (known to be one of the most conservative large universities in the country, or at least that's my understanding), voted for O'Rourke over Cruz by like a 30% margin.

If Gen Z'ers are fed up with the status quo, why would they support more right wing policies that have cemented the status quo, as is? That's a good reason why Millenials aren't buying it. This economy isn't working for us because it isn't made for us. Changes have to be made.

Austerity and oligarchy under the guise of capitalism (versus anything else, ranging from market regulation to access to basic services being labeled as 'socialism') are what's mainly driving the status quo, and these positions are mostly espoused by the Republican party.

The natural response from the generations of voters being detrimentally affected by those policies is to associate them with the right in the U.S.

Yes, but what party does the mainstream media, the big corporations, and general opinion support? The democrats. Teenagers are rebellious and are more than likely to go against popular opinion and the views of the majority, especially their parents.

I don't buy this nonsense conservative GenZ argument (which seems to be a product of the most internet poisoned discourse), but a fair counter to BRTD's argument would be that there could be an ever-growing divergence between Generation Z whites who go to college and those who do not.

Another thing is that college areas have been liberal even in times when young people have been conservative.

I've been teaching undergrads for 3 years now, and while I try to avoid getting them to discuss things in an explicitly partisan framework, it's been pretty clear to me so far that the vast majority of them are either standard-issue liberal Democrats or moderates who are probably still figuring themselves out. I can't think of a single student who fits the stereotype of the alt-right Shapiro fanboy.

I assume you mean "alt-right or a Shapiro fanboy" because the alt-right hates Shapiro (because he's Jewish.)

There is, but it's mostly just insanely Democratic vs modestly Democratic:

I've been working for a public school district for almost two years and, while there are a few alt-right troll types in the high school, they're vastly outnumbered and I get the exact same vibe from them that I got from my own "lol epic pedobear bacon longcat goatse" high school classmates in 2008, most of whom, a decade later, are generic late-Millennial progressives.

Most of the 'eternally 2016 essjaydubyoo cringe ownd rekt market place of ideas' content producers are far older than school age teens. Some are even older than me. From teachers I know, that stuff is really outdated and stale (oh look another anti-sjw vid) to kids or they've moved on. Stuff like Shapiro and Turning Point is simply a tool to make boomer Facebook drones think that young people agree with them. All the 'free thinkers' think the same, trot out the same arguments and go on each others shows.  And besides if you make fun of high schoolers because they don't want to be shot at, they have trans friends and care about being 4 foot underwater and 40k in debt you're salting the ground.

I can't think of a single student who fits the stereotype of the alt-right Shapiro fanboy.

Its really crazy. You are about the same age as me and I really didn't get into that stuff until like 2005 but imagine it was around the time at least half of the country could get past 56kpbs without a $300 a month ISDN3. The really crazy thing is that kids in Jr. High School today are talking about the same weird wannabe autist stuff from 15 or 20 years ago.

I myself am a highschool student. I go to school in a Likely D county that swung strongly democrat in 2016 and 2018 and my district encompasses mostly Lean D precincts that swung strongly to democrats both those years.

This school is overwhelmingly Republican, and that title extends from disgruntled Never-Trumpers to Turning Point America and PragerU addicts to the, uh, you know. Of course there are a lot of democrats but I would say that a plurality if not a majority of my peers are right of center.

The overall mood among students is a disliking of Trump's personality but support of his policies. There is no liberal group here but there is a Young Americans for Freedom group (which I am a part of) which has about 70 members, and most of them are actually female surprisingly. I will say my school is mostly white (about 75%) but it still goes to show that from an insider perspective, the "Gen Z is liberal" meme is bogus and is being pushed on us without a basis.
