Kind of damning for the "Freedom" caucus that they can't handle having a member with any principles.

As far as I know, no, he's not becoming a Democrat.

Good on him, though from reading the article it sounds like one of those being offered the chance to resign before being fired type of situations

Amash supports imprisoning our innocent president - that's the very opposite of freedom if I've ever seen it.

House GOPers are in the minority,  they can talk about impeachment.  Whereas, in Senate, GOP are in majority.

He is really starting to win me over. It's kind of like how a white lobster being born has 1 in 100 million odds. A Republican with a spine might as well have the same ones. Amash might just be one of those.

Amash is down the line #NeverTrump, so I give him props for consistency.  He didn't endorse Trump in 2016, and he didn't come around and say how wonderful Trump was when his fortunes appeared to take an uptick.  (I'll think of Amash on the day Ben Sasse endorses Trump for reelection.)

What I don't know is what Amash is going to do.  If he's not going to support the Republican ticket, he's not going to have a future as a Republican, but he's certainly NOT a Democrat.  There is no way I can imagine Amash being conforatable as a Democrat, or even as an Independent caucusing with Republicans.  (I don't think Amash could get reelected that way anyway; his district is pretty solidly Republican, and a mediocre Republican with the GOP nomination would either beat Amash for the seat or cause a Democrat to win with a minority of the votes.)

Amash has a future, but he has to find a way to stay in the GOP.  He's done a lot to bring himself to the point of being run out of the party.

It's the Economic Freedom Caucus, if the truth be known.

If they were the real Freedom Caucus, they'd be seeking to cut back on private prisons, overcriminalization and mass incarceration, the War on Drugs, foreign military involvements, and a number of other causes that involve less government, but they're not about that.  Let's get real.

He has no future. He knows it. That's why he did this. At best, he will be a fellow at the Cato Institute or something else.

If this was for legitimate ideological reasons I'd be more understanding. However, this seems to have been done largely because of whining over the large pile of bovine excrement that is "muh Russia". For such behavior Amash has tanked his chances of renomination and now the US congress faces losing a man whom I have strongly appreciated due to his principled stances on foreign and domestic policy, what a moronic series of decisions. Every day I become less sympathetic with libertarians largely because they'd rather chuck hissy fits over actually seeing their economic agenda carried out or having any stake in it whatsoever.
