Will the libertarian-leaning Kentucky Senator elected in 2010 and 2016, Rand Paul ever be elected president one day?

He is too libertarian for the neoconservative foreign policy wing of the GOP, too libertarian for the police state wing (Giuliani, Sessions, Christie).

Can he be president?

It's not at all likely. His views are too idiosyncratic for both the GOP base and the general electorate.

What they said.

It also doesn't help that he hasn't been entirely consistent, unlike his father. He also doesn't have the quirky warmth of his father, he just seems much more angry and aloof.

Unfortunately he probably will never be elected president because his base (libertarians, libertarian leaning conservatives, anti-hawks, etc.) is too small a faction of the GOP to get him through a primary.

Then how did Donald Trump win the 2016 GOP nomination?

Could see some future candidate picking him as their running mate. He's not very charismatic, but he he can balance a ticket as an experienced attack dog appealing to younger, socially liberal and fiscally conservative voters. And maybe old 4chan users who remember Ron Paul memes.

His time has passed. DeSantis, Gaetz represent the future of the party.

Zero chance.  No charisma, and republicans don't win by being relatively socially liberal, otherwise there's no reason for poor whites to vote for them
