I tie the bread bag. I don't know why people want their bread cold or have to thaw.

Thanks, guys. This poll is going exactly as I expected. My theory is that only elderly people freeze their bread... I call them "freezer geezers."

Other.

I buy fresh bread every day at the local bakeries, of which there are many.

No need to "keep it fresh". But other than that, I'd put it in my breadbox.

I tie the bag and put it in a large plastic container because ants can be a problem here. If I leave town for a few days or otherwise don't think I'll be home much, I'll put it in the refrigerator to try and get some more time out of it.

Yes, I do this too. Bread that doesn't go stale within 24-48 hours is deeply suspect imo

I tie the bread bag. I don't know why people want their bread cold or have to thaw.

Because proper bread (that doesn't have nasty preservatives) should be consumed within a couple of days. The taste continues to degrade in the fridge, and it'll probably get moldy by day 4.

I eat what I can then freeze the part of the loaf I can't eat within 2 days and then heat it up later. A friend of mine owns an artisan bread factory and that is exactly what he recommends.

Depends on the kind of bread:

Sliced (soft) bread: Option 3. This kind of bread pretty much always comes in a plastic bag with a tie. I just tie it up and leave it in the kitchen somewhere. I don't think I have ever seen this kind of bread go stale (is it even possible?) and for it to get mould takes quite a long time (though it has happened to me a couple of times)

Baguettes and the like (hard bread?): Pretty much you have to eat it within 24-48 hours, otherwise it gets stale. So we just buy it whenever we need it at the gas station near my house (there aren't any actual bakeries close, though if doing the groceries it is not rare for us to buy it at the supermarket that day)

If we can't eat it within that time period for some reason, we don't put it in the freezer. Instead we do the opposite, put it in the oven and make pretty much toasts Tongue (idk how to say it in English). Either way, those toasts do not get stale.

For the record, "Sliced soft bread" is what I call "pan de molde", baguettes are baguettes and the toasts I'm referring to is what I call "Pan bizcochado"

Good distinction. For the record, I made this poll with sandwich bread in mind.

Healthy bread (Sprouted grains):  stays great for over a month in the freezer.

Back in the day, we had a dog and every once in a while someone would be stoopid and leave the bread near the edge of the counter, and we'd come back and find this empty bread bag on the floor with a small hole in it about the size of a muzzle. I swear to this day if we had a camera, all we'd see is a dog throwing his head around in the air, snout half in the bag, eating the entire loaf like he's a horse with a feedbag.

Exactly. I just tie the bread bag (assuming I buy sandwich bread at all, as I prefer baguette, funnily enough in French it's only a sandwich if made with baguette, if made with sandwich bread then it's a tartine, at least where I'm from) but my grandfather always freezes his bread lol.

Exactly.

At home we have bakeries nearby but I haven't gone to one in about 10 years, I just get my baguettes at the supermarket. Supermarket baguettes are half the price of bakery baguettes and they're more than good enough that I'm not paying double the price for the privilege of saying I got them at the bakery, especially given the nearest supermarket is just as close as the nearest bakery.

I'm not sure what a breadbox is either. Personally, I tie it up and put it in the bread drawer (i.e. a drawer in the kitchen designated for bread, tortillas, bagels, English muffins, etc).

Bread does not belong in the fridge. Cold bread just isn't right.

In western Washington, we could just tie it off and leave it on the counter. In eastern WA, however, bread gets moldy extremely quickly if you do that, so we leave it tied off in the fridge.
