After all those months focusing on Maine, it looks like a Collins might just hand us our Senate majority after all!

Raphael Warnock vs. Doug Collins is perhaps the best possible microcosm of the Trump era.

And a really good luck for Democrats tbh.

Will Warnock have trouble with Tarver in his primary?

Not likely, with the full power of the Democratic Party machine behind him. A good point of comparison would be Stacey Abrams becoming the overwhelming frontrunner for the Gov nomination the instant the Party got behind her.

Imagine he loses, & not only will he not move up to the Senate, but he'll be out of Congress entirely.

I can't wait.

Nope. Tarver is from Augusta, Warnock has high name rec in the ATL media market and an Abrams endorsement waiting in the wings. He has this thing locked up. Can't wait to vote for him.

I was a little skeptical of Warnock because of his lack of political experience, but I would support him because he seems like the kind of candidate who could boost African-American turnout the most out of all the prospective candidates (which is critical for Democrats' winning path in Georgia).

Don't know why you guys want Collins so bad. He is a significantly stronger candidate than Loeffler by every metric.

Loeffler is weak, but Collins would do significantly worse than her in the Atlanta suburbs.

Factually untrue.

Honestly candidate quality doesn’t really matter in a racially polarized/ inelastic state. I think if Loeffler and Collins were to run in a normal election, they’d both end up somewhere between 49.5-50% of the vote. Why this is hilarious is bc Kemp could have totally forgone this if he’d just appointed Collins in the first place. Loeffler is dumping tons of her own money and there’s a not insignificant chance that both her and Collins get locked out of the runoff bc of Kemp’s idiocy. This is prob their last chance to win a senate seat for the foreseeable future too. She’d get destroyed if it was a 1v1 primary.

If Collins wins, then he turns off the Republican elites & suburban moderates. If Loeffler wins, then she turns off the Trumpists. Either way, Dems don't lose in this situation, regardless of who emerges victorious from the battle (*cough* Collins *cough*), as they'll both be damaged coming out of the primary.

The only remaining question, then, is whether that damage therein will be enough to tip the state blue? That's yet to be determined.

Entitled Doug Collins deserves to lose the Senate race for his arrogance. The only real question is how the race will affect David Perdue's chances of winning reelection.

I really don’t know who Collins appeals to outside of the Republican base. Obviously Georgia still has a high floor for Republicans but their is still a realistic chance that Collins could bomb worse than Trump did in the Atlanta metro costing him the state.

This may be right, crazy is often not as electorally harmful as being wooden and uncharismatic.

Good. Other than Abrams, Warnock is probably the best candidate we could have gotten.

This will be a rough primary between Collins and Loeffler. It will be interesting to watch.

She has no constituency and Kemp should have known Collins was going to run. He should have played it safe and chosen Loudermilk.

We'll see. This is a battle that transcends party lines and this is part one of Kemp's GOP allies trying to stop the bill from reaching his desk. Collins wouldn't be entering if he didn't have votes counted ahead of time to at least have a reasonable shot at it.

Tomlinson and Warnock complement one another perfectly to maximize turnout.

Does Doug Collins feel entitled to the Senate seat or something?

He's a middle aged white guy Republican, ofc he feels entitled to have it.
