This therefore means HB 757 is likely to be a go, and we're getting normal primaries for both seats.

Collins will beat Loeffler. He has the support of the Republican base, will almost certainly receive Trump's endorsement, and is a known quantity, thanks to the prominence which he has gained from the impeachment hearings. However, I'm not so sure about his chances in the general. Georgia is still a Republican state (on balance, and in terms of actual partisan control of the government/congressional delegation), but it is now competitive, and I can't imagine Collins having any real appeal with moderate suburban voters. However, I do believe that if Perdue and Trump are carrying Georgia, then Collins will win as well.

He could either do what he did with Alabama and just support the establishment’s pick, or he’ll just throw a finger at Kemp for disobeying him and go for Collins... I feel like the later is likelier.

Yeah, Collins will probably beat Loeffler, regardless of how hard to the right she pivots. You can already see her pivot as fast as she can & she's so inexperienced in politics that she just looks like a bootlicking loser. She's a virtual unknown, & she's gonna get hit hard on her past, more moderate positions. Plus, I doubt that the photo of her with Stacey Abrams will endear her to the hard-right Trump fanatics that Collins will rile up.

This race (almost certainly) will go to a runoff between the top 2 finishers, regardless of party, in January. The jungle primary coincides with the November/general election. I don't think this necessarily changes much, if anything, about your analysis, which I agree with, other than the mechanics, plus the increased likelihood, I would think, that the Republican would win the January runoff, because of the way turnout works in Georgia.

There likely won't be a jungle primary

I thought Kemp was going to veto the change?

Yes, HB757 sets up normal primaries for GA specials, and if Collins is getting in than the bill is likely passing along D+Collins's GOP allies lines. There are articles about this one the previous page. Now, we still could go to a runoff if indies ruin everything, but that is less than likely.

It's not clear if he will be able to sustain a veto override vote

The Dems + GOP Collins allies will override. House Speaker Ralston has all but endorsed Collins. I believe the special will have partisan primaries in May.

I almost couldn’t watch this ad. She’s so wooden and fake. Collins will mop the floor with her in a debate.

Does Doug Collins feel entitled to the Senate seat or something?

If we have partisan primaries she will lose by 50 points. I can legit see Collins get 80-90 percent throughout rural GA.

She sounds so uncomfortable in this ad - really doesn't play the conservative firebrand part well.

The most absurd part of this ad is the small church in rural GA ; I mean unless you’re very stupid it’s hard to believe that she goes every Sunday from Buckhead to a small town in southern GA for praying

Statements from the NRSC on Doug Collins,

“All he has done is put two Senate seats, multiple house seats, and Georgia’s 16 electoral votes in play. The NRSC stands firmly behind Sen. Kelly Loeffler and urges anyone who wants to re-elect President Trump, hold the GOP senate majority, and stop socialism to do the same.

I must admit I thought these seats had slipped out of the Democrats' grasp... and then the GOP sportingly decided to resurrect their chances. Hilarious.

Raphael Warnock vs. Doug Collins is perhaps the best possible microcosm of the Trump era.
