Yeah, Collins will probably beat Loeffler, regardless of how hard to the right she pivots. You can already see her pivot as fast as she can & she's so inexperienced in politics that she just looks like a bootlicking loser. She's a virtual unknown, & she's gonna get hit hard on her past, more moderate positions. Plus, I doubt that the photo of her with Stacey Abrams will endear her to the hard-right Trump fanatics that Collins will rile up.

Imagine he loses, & not only will he not move up to the Senate, but he'll be out of Congress entirely.

I can't wait.

Don't know why you guys want Collins so bad. He is a significantly stronger candidate than Loeffler by every metric.

If Collins wins, then he turns off the Republican elites & suburban moderates. If Loeffler wins, then she turns off the Trumpists. Either way, Dems don't lose in this situation, regardless of who emerges victorious from the battle (*cough* Collins *cough*), as they'll both be damaged coming out of the primary.

The only remaining question, then, is whether that damage therein will be enough to tip the state blue? That's yet to be determined.

Collins has already said he'll turn down the intelligence job.  (The jokes write themselves.)

My brain: "Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it."

Me: "Collins would actually need intelligence to do the job, & he's so afraid of intelligence that he doesn't even wanna direct it to his benefit. I mean, doesn't he know that national intelligence doesn't require you to actually have any functional mental intelligence, just loyalty to the Donald?"

What the actual f**k was Kemp thinking when he picked her? She's been a complete disaster from the start in every way possible.

Are there any Georgia posters (or people more in tune to state politics) who know why on earth Kemp picked her? Was it a literal F you to every elected republican in Georgia?

Her ability to keep the seat for the GOP by self-funding & (presumably) not being as much of an electoral disaster for the GOP in the suburbs as Collins.

Loeffler reports more stock sales amid insider trading allegations

Quote
The largest transactions — and the most politically problematic — involve $18.7 million in sales of Intercontinental Exchange stock in three separate deals dated Feb. 26 and March 11. Loeffler is a former executive with ICE, and her husband, Jeff Sprecher, is the CEO of the company, which owns the New York Stock Exchange among other financial marketplaces. During the same time period reflected on reports filed late Tuesday, the couple also sold shares in retail stores such as Lululemon and T.J. Maxx and invested in a company that makes COVID-19 protective garments.

Yeah, this is Collins' seat to lose now. I'd half-expect the no-chance Republican candidates to drop out & endorse him soon for a favor later.

That said, I don't think he'll pass 50% in the jungle. If the national environment further worsens against Republicans, we'll have a puncher's chance.

The crazy thing is that this is absolutely a minuscule percentage of her net worth. To use round numbers, let’s say she’s worth $500m and sold $4m worth of stock. That’s .08% and not even accounting for the fact that her husband is also worth somewhere in the $500m ballpark.  $4m sounds like a lot to us plebes but when you’re worth this much, it’s a rounding error. She’s gonna lose a senate seat for something she did three weeks in and is looking at prison time over a f**king rounding error.

As she deserves to.

Ironic, considering her sales of stock have been in the multi-millions of dollars, if she's ultimately undone by a $46,027 sale.

If she drops out the Democrats need to force everyone out and endorse Warnock.

If anything, the Democrats should be more incentivized to do that now rather than in the event that she drops out, because if she drops out, at least the Democrats are guaranteed a run-off spot (be it Lieberman or Warnock).

The last thing I want is another Lieberman in the Senate.

The only thing I want is another Democrat in the Senate. If Lieberman proves himself to be a better candidate than Warnock, then so be it.

If a candidate has to expressly say that they're not dropping out, then their campaign is already quite dead in the water.

Well, no sh*t. It's frickin' amateur hour with her & her staff.

No, they need to force Warnock to drop out and endorse Lieberman (i.e. the strongest - or rather, least weak - Democrat running).  Of course, they should be spending on the regular Georgia Senate race since unlike Warnock or Lieberman, Osoff actually has a chance of winning even if it's a long shot and the money would be much better spent on Maine, North Carolina, Montana, and (if Kobach is the Republican nominee) Kansas.

If anything Lieberman is the weaker of the two.  And it would be far better for Democrats to have him drop out.

If Lieberman is the weaker of the two, then this campaign has really gone a long way to making it seem as if he isn't.

Or, if we Occam's Razor it, maybe he's just not as bad a candidate as some people have expected/wanted him to be.

She’s doomed politically regardless. She was already a woman and completely out of touch with the KKK hicks in north and South Georgia so whatevs.

Her not being held criminally liable will be a disgrace.

Yeah, she must've had enough plausible deniability & degrees of separation under the law, but I'd definitely still say that she was acting unethically. As some solace, her political career is now in tatters anyway.

I got a text today inviting me to vote in a poll where the choices were Collins, Loeffler, and Not Sure.
Looking forward to Senator N. Sure (I-GA) assuming office in January, I wonder with which party he will caucus.

He's not sure yet.

If both races go to a runoff, would the two seats stay vacant at the start of the 117th Congress? And when would the winner be sworn in?

Yes, and as soon as possible after the results were certified.

Actually, the Perdue seat would, but Loeffler would continue to hold her seat since it's a special election & the seat's term doesn't end on January 3rd.

I regret to inform you all that Kelly Lofeller has, for a third time, compared herself favorably to Attila the Hun

Wait, hold up. This kinda feels... pro-civil war? Like they obviously still don't understand who Attila actually was but more importantly, the idea that the right should "attack the far left" like Attila would've seems just a little bit pro-inciting violence.

It takes a special kind of crazy to not only believe in a globalist cabal, but to think that the wife of the NYSE Chair is on the outside of said cabal.

Really interested in seeing what this county map winds up looking like. With Collins and Loeffler dividing the Republican vote, I'm assuming Warnock carries some non-traditional counties, comes close in some even less traditional counties, and wins the overwhelmingly Democratic counties by even more massive margins than normal.

I know the polls don't suggest it, but given record voter turnout & those dynamics which you mention, what are the odds of us seeing an outright Warnock win on November 3rd at this rate?

Doug Collins strikes a new blow against Kelly Loeffler in their race to the bottom right

Well, that'll convince the undecideds.
