WEEK 8 RESULTS

Sjoyce won another tight battle (the fourth week in which he's won or tied for the lead!) and gained back the point of overall lead that he lost last week.

This week:

20 sjoyce
19 GeorgiaModerate, Green Line
18 Jgibson, Sunrise
17 1184AZ, Illiniwek, Sprouts
16 ExtremeRepublican
14 Dereich
13 dfw, RINO Tom, YE

Our average score was 16.5, which is so-so.  There were three unanimous picks (North Texas, Utah, and USC) and we got them all right.  There was one game with a single dissenter (Florida-South Carolina) and the dissenter was wrong.

Overall results:

148 sjoyce
141 GeorgiaModerate
133 Green Line
132 Sprouts
131 Dereich
129 ExtremeRepublican
128 JGibson
126 RINO Tom
120 Illiniwek
118 1184AZ
115 SunriseAroundTheWorld
112 dfw

I wasn't really sure they'd do this since they love going to top 25 SEC matchups...but College Gameday is going to NDSU @ SDSU! (Though they might've gone to Wisconsin @ Ohio State had Wisconsin not lost lol)

Minnesota is the biggest JOKE of a ranked team I've ever seen.  My friend was in Minneapolis on Saturday and apparently they were all going crazy when Wisconsin lost.  Cute.

I am so excited for $1 million to be transferred from the coffers of the New Jersey taxpayers to the hands of Jerry Falwell, Jr. this week for the pleasure of beating a "P5" team #FlameOnGameOn

Re: MINN - I would give them a fighting chance of winning the division if the Iowa game were at home. Iowa is just an offensively mediocre team. Clearly not top 3 in the conference, but I think most people saw the 8-0 start coming, especially once they escaped the Jackrabbits and Nebraska was completely exposed.

2014 Mark Helfrich completely blew the title game with horrible coaching which foreshadowed how bad 2016-17 would be once the bulk of the team no longer was there

While you're obviously correct that there should have been a playoff in 2012 and any other year, Alabama lost to Texas A&M (finished #t5 that year), while Oregon lost to Stanford (finished #7 that year). Alabama beat 3 teams that finished ranked (not counting Notre Dame) - 14 LSU, t5 Georgia, and 24 Michigan, while Oregon's only win over a team that finished ranked was 20 Oregon State. Alabama also won the SEC, while Oregon didn't win the Pac-12.

On a related subject, what's your opinion of Mark Helfrich? He seems like a guy who would be a sneaky good hire at Mississippi State. Sure, he was bad that one year, but over 4 years, he was 37-16 (24-12 Pac-12) with two top 10 finishes and a playoff. Even in 2016, he had several close losses and it looks like they struggled with a true freshman QB who's really good now as a senior.

Our best years with Dan Mullen were running a HUNH run-oriented spread, and Helfrich is a guy who can bring that back, and he has what seems like a good resume on top of that.

Mark Helfrich is an excellent OC but not a good Head Coach. 2013 and 2014 Oregon blew many games cause of bad coaching even though they had the best QB in College Football and probably the best talent as well . The 2015 National Championship game is a huge example of this, Helfrich called that game terribly which cost us the game. He went for too many big plays on first and second down  when shot-medium passes would have worked .

Then in the 2016 Alamo Bowl Helfrich blew a 31-0 lead and the 2016 regular season was just horrible.

Anyway right now he is the OC of the Chicago Bears and I dont think he will leave that position in quite some time

I'll record the last pick posted for any game as long as it's before the deadline (5 minutes before game start).

At the half, Kansas State leads Oklahoma 24-23.  It's the first time this year that Oklahoma has trailed at the end of any quarter.

I think K-State gonna cover the spread.

KSU is rolling over OU right now. OU looks like they've given up and there are 20 minutes to play.

If OU gets 7 touchdowns in the last 12 minutes, they still could cover the spread.  And they got one in about 16 seconds.
