That had to be the worst no-call on a face mask I've ever seen in the SMU-Memphis game.

Even though I'm not participating in the pick 'em this year, I just wanted to stop by and brag to everyone that I got good seats for the UGA/UF game in Jax this weekend.

My prediction:

Georgia 24
Florida 17

Well, you win the week

WEEK 10 RESULTS

That thudding sound you heard was everyone else's hopes of catching sjoyce.  He tied for the top this week with 1184AZ.

This week:

17 1184AZ, sjoyce
16 ExtremeConservative, Illiniwek
15 Dereich, Sprouts
14 dfw, Green Line, Sunrise, YE
13 RINO Tom
12 GeorgiaModerate, JGibson

The average score was a not-so-great 14.5.  There were four unanimous picks, all correct: Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Boise State.  There were five games with one dissenter:

Nebraska-Purdue (dissenter was right)
Kansas State-Kansas
Air Force-Army
Arizona-Oregon State (dissenter was right)
Tennessee-UAB

And in case anyone was wondering, Northern Illinois (who YE picked even though their game wasn't on the list) lost to Central Michigan. Smiley

Overall results:

182 sjoyce
167 GeorgiaModerate, Green Line
163 Dereich, Sprouts
161 ExtremeRepublican
156 JGibson
155 RINO Tom
153 Illiniwek
145 1184AZ
142 dfw
141 SunriseAroundTheWorld

People who haven't played every week:

At the end of the day, Georgia will have to prove it by beating Auburn. Technically, Georgia > Florida > Auburn > Oregon in my book, but the Auburn loss was in the swamp, and I have mad respect for the talent on Oregon. SP+ basically agrees with that assessment including the fact that Florida got lucky by not playing in Alabama. FPI only agrees with Georgia, but I believe has been much less reliable. You can still count it as a win, but Wazzu had Oregon beat. This sport is not just wins and losses but how you win and lose.

Perhaps the part of the rankings that I find most confounding is Michigan over a Wisconsin team that murdered them. Give me a break with Illinois. Going to OT with The Army is worse than losing to Illinois while trailing for zero seconds.

I am so excited to be going to the Game of the Century this weekend, which will certainly determine this year's champion. In fact, it may be one of the most important football games ever played between unblemished teams, at least in my lifetime. I am very dismayed by ESPN's decision not to join us for the pregame festivities (perhaps they forgot their origins as Eastern Sports Programming). Not even as a dual site GameDay to quell Dixie's rabble-rousers should they become outraged -- Phooey! One of the most classic of all rivalries in such an iconic and historically significant locale put aside for...*shivers*. It should be front and center on every television across our nation.

Oregon choked that Auburn game badly , just like Georgia choked against SC but Oregon is better than Auburn . If Oregon beats Utah that will beat any win by Georgia by the way because Florida Hasn’t beaten anyone as good as Utah .

Oregon was robbed in 2012 by a biased system favoring the SEC and Oregon was the best team that year .

Florida has beaten Auburn. What is Utah's case for being a good team? Narrowly beating unranked Washington? They are 1-1 against the top 40. Yet we agree they probably are better than Florida because of how we judge teams.

This debate is never about quality of wins. You can't track quality wins over the course of a 12 games schedule. For over a century, this sport has subjectively and objectively used metrics like like Strength of Victory (and more recently yards-based and turnover-based measures) to award national championships or rank the best teams. Without that support, Clemson would be nowhere near consideration.

Or going undefeated in a supposedly power 5 conference even though the AAC has more ranked teams than the ACC at this point lol
(AAC = 4, Cincinnati, Memphis, SMU, and Navy) (ACC = 2, Clemson and Wake Forest)

After the last few years, it's weird that the AAC has four ranked teams -- and UCF isn't one of them!

Give it a little bit of time — UCF's top of "also receiving votes" at the moment and none of the AAC teams have a particularly difficult matchup this weekend (SMU has ECU, Cincy UConn & UCF's at Tulsa, Navy & Memphis are on a bye), so I wouldn't be surprised to see them jump up if, say, Iowa gets blown out by Wisconsin or something.
