So UGA lost at home to an unranked, 4-5 South Carolina and is still #6, Utah lost to an unranked, 5-4 USC that's about to fire their coach and is still #8, and Oklahoma lost on the road to #16 K-State and is... 9th?

Not sure what Georgia's excuse is (SEC bias?) but Utah's win over BYU is a bit interesting as BYU won over USC, you could argue the loss to USC by Utah was a fluke (or just circumstantial as USC had revolving QB's at the time). Oklahoma's loss is also a bit more recent, so there's that aspect. The committee certainly takes into account how recent the loss is (whether they admit it or not), Utah's loss was earlier in the season and therefore less consequential. I suppose the same is true of Georgia, but meh. (Georgia also has a win over a top 10 team.....I suspect OU would be higher up if Texas hadn't crashed and burned so badly.)

Washington State @ California    Why is Wazzu favored by 7.5?
Cal's offense has fallen off a cliff since Bowers got hurt — they put up 83 yards total against Utah. Utah does have a good defense, but still... 83 yards.

Well, if there was ever a team to rebuild your offense against, it's Washington St  (or a Mike Leach team in general)

Iowa @ Wisconsin
Florida International @ Florida Atlantic
Missouri @ Georgia
Appalachian State @ South Carolina

The football gods owed Tulsa one after their losses to SMU and Memphis.

Too late to start picking now, but in the only two three games that matter, TCU, Alabama, and Dartmouth.

I don't know if a coach has ever been fired at halftime, but Chad Morris is making Willie Taggart look like a genius.

A little trivia.  Jerry Jones' (Arkansas' #1 alum) grandson is getting his first start at QB today and their opponent's (Western Kentucky) QB is Arkansas' QB from last year's unsuccessful season.  It's 28-7 WKU right now.

Barring a huge comeback, I'm going to have a whole omelette on my face (I'm the only one who picked Arkansas).

Well, WKU scored right before the half to make it 35-7.  WKU went 5-5 on 4th down conversions in the 1st half.
