A question to the two candidates (assuming Muaddib accepts this nomination) is why do you think you’ll be a good Speaker? Also another question, again should Muaddib accept, is why are you running for Speaker?

I have demonstrated in my previous term (as the deputy) that I am a competent choice for the job. I kept the noticeboard up to date and actively send delegates DMs when votes took place. I have a history of activity and doing my best to enable others to be active. I have a demonstrated professional working relationship with the nominated deputy. I believe the aboves makes me the best choice for speaker.

I have kept a good relationship with many members of the Chamber and I believe it is the Speaker's duty to keep partisan politics out of the Speakers office, if elected as Speaker that is one thing I won't let get to me.

The voting period now commences. TimTurner has become Deputy Speaker by default, since no other would-be candidates put themselves forward.

I believe voting should be closed. As as per the rules of the chamber voting for the speakership should last for 48 hours.

Quote from: Standing Rules of the Southern Chamber of Delegates Section I. Point 2)
the Dean of the Chamber shall start a 24-hour nominating period for Speaker, followed by a 48-hour vote on these positions.

Only Tim has the authority to close the vote, as he is dean and deputy speaker. There is no speaker until the result is certified.

The results of the Speaker election are as follows:
4 delegates have voted for Muaddib, 2 have voted for TSA, and 1 didn't vote.
Muaddib is thus elected Speaker.

Indeed, just as you have pointed out proceedure. So was I. I wasn't closing the vote. Merely pointing out that it should be.
