Max Baucus was a popular incumbent Democrat who had served for 30 years. He was fairly centrist and often broke with the party. Bob Kelleher was an 85 year old who had been the Green nominee in the last election. He was pro-life, but besides that was more left-wing than Baucus, and supported single payer, oil nationalization, and drug legalization.

Kelleher, one of my easiest votes ever. Not only is Baucus terrible, but Kelleher is my kind of Republican. Tongue

Baucus won in a landslide, so it follows the only posters here will be the aggrieved Kelleher-backers.

The rest of us know who the better choice was. (D) for forward, (R) for backward.

I wonder if he would have voted for the ACA.

He died in 2011, so presumably Brian Schweitzer could then replace him with a non-Baucus Democrat.

I finally found a race in which I would vote Republican! I previously thought none existed. I will always vote for the candidate more left wing on healthcare, whatever their stance on other issues.

Kelleher, since Baucus doesn't need my vote. and Dems already have a majority.

Even if someone supports single payer but is far right on crime, drugs, abortion, the environment, taxes, education, etc.

The other candidate is liberal on these issues and supports a public option

Would you still vote for the pro-single payer candidate
