A RESOLUTION
to promote friendship and cooperation among the peoples of the Pacific

Section 1 (Title)
i. The title of this Resolution shall be, the "Congress of Pacific Nations Resolution." It may be cited as "CPNR."

Section 2 (Call for a general congress of the nations of the Pacific)
WHEREAS, the peoples who live upon the tide of the Pacific Ocean, and the island nations scattered like stardust upon the sea-blue waves, form a community of a common interest in the peace and prosperity of the region;

WHEREAS, by virtue of common geography, they face shared challenges and opportunities of economic, environmental, and political character;

WHEREAS, improved cooperation between our peoples is therefore prudent and desirable;

RESOLVED, the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Frémont does invite representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, Atlasian Samoa, British Columbia, the Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Fiji, Guam, the Republic of Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, the Republic of Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Republic of Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Republic of the Philippines, the Independent State of Samoa, the Solomon Islands, the Kingdom of Tonga, Tuvalu, and the Republic of Vanuatu to join them in general Congress of Pacific Nations at Honolulu on the first of January 2020.

RESOLVED, that the purpose of this Congress shall be to discuss cooperation between the peoples of the Pacific on common economic and environmental challenges, and to agree to the time and place of the next Congress.

As the region comprising Atlasia's Pacific coast, Frémont's economy is intertwined with the peace and prosperity of the Pacific; additionally, our people share a unique historical and cultural bond with other Pacific nations, with several current and former members of this esteemed body being citizens of Oceanic states. A Congress of Pacific Nations will allow for improved cooperation between our Commonwealth and the other peoples of the Pacific on economic, environmental, and political challenges which we have in common.

While I will say that normally such an action is typically instigated by states rather than non-autonomous regions, Frémont does have enormous impact on Pacific affairs and as such I can only see this congress as being to the mutual benefit of the Commonwealth and the Pacific nations involved.  This resolution has my full support.
