You slipped into a coma and emerge from it on January 20, 2021, at 12:00 noon and start watching the presidential inauguration of Bill Weld on the hospital TV.

What happened ?

After their successful primaries, the Trump-Pence ticket was killed by members of the Anti-Fa and Melania Trump was not able to run for POTUS instead, because she wasn't born in the US. The widdow of Pence declined to run.

The Republicans then picked Bill Welp as their replacement candidate, as he received the most votes in the primaries after Trump. He defeated the candidates of the Democrats, Yang-Tlaib, after the ticket only denounced the actions of the Anti-Fa killers in a lukewarm manner, leading to a surge in enthusiasm among Republicans and Republican leaning Independents.

President Welp:

Here is an alternate scenario:

After their successful primaries, Trump-Pence shifted into general election mode in mid-2020.

As the polls became more and more favourable for them and it seemed they were to be re-elected because the Democrats nominated a lackluster ticket, NASA suddenly detected several illegal alien spaceships entering US airspace.

One of these spaceship landed in Montana, as can be seen below:

Trump asked: "What the hell are they doing here ? They are illegal aliens !"

Long story short:

The aliens came out of their MT ship and took Trump-Pence with them to Alpha Centauri, or wherever the f**k they came from, arguing that it was necessary to abduct the Republican frontrunners to avoid great harm for the planet. No further explanation was given by the aliens and they took off again.

Even if Trump and Pence died, the GOP would never willingly nominate Weld. Maybe if he somehow got all of Epstein's dirt and used it to extort his way to the nomination.

Would they have another choice ?

If Trump places first and Weld second in most primaries, then Trump and Pence die ... why would another candidate than Weld be the legitimate nominee ?

If a candidate died, most of their pledged delegates would be released and become unpledged, just as if they had dropped out (this is why many candidates "suspend" their campaigns rather than actually dropping out). The GOP currently has a rule that you have to win at least five states to have your name placed into nomination at the convention, a bar Weld is unlikely to ever clear, meaning none of the delegates he "won" would actually be pledged to him. Should they reach the convention without any living candidate clearing the five state threshold, I imagine the convention rules committee would simply vote to change the rules and allow other names to be entered. They would probably do the same even if Weld somehow won his prerequisite five states.

Ultimately, if a majority of delegates and a majority of the rules committee wants to do something, no one can stop them.

That applies to the situation if Trump/Pence die at some point in June, before the convention is held.

What happens if the convention was already held and both were already nominated and Trump/Pence die and none of them has a will stating their replacement candidate ?

Would they call for another convention, or would it be a RNC vote only ?
